Maybe someone here that works at a dealership or shop can answer this. I was up at the tire shop getting my moms tires rotated and they were giving a car a transmission flush. Now they had a big drum of transmission fluid and I asked jokingly are you sure that's the right fluid. They told me that they mix a bottle of fluid in the machine that they use for the flush meaning that they turn that drum of transmission fluid into whatever is needed for that car. He held up this one bottle and said mixing this in will make it atf+4, is this right, can this be trusted. :?:

If it doesn't work, they're buying you a transmission, aren't they?

In all seriousness, it's fine. That's the only way my KJ's been flushed since I've owned it.

Adding a bottle of chemicals to a drum of DexIII does not make it ATF+4.Take it back to the place and tell them they put the wrong fluid in and they must cover a trans flush that will need to be done a the dealership.ATF+4 is full synthetic and DEXIII is not,DEXIII will destroy your transmission.

Agreed.

Another reason why I won't allow these so-called shops to do my maintenance.
