HELP--NOISE WHEN BACK UP AND PRESS BRAKE

does the fuel tank has some support , like something to be hold on the car.

the rear axle and move about a little bit, on your jeep, the fuel tank looks very close to the axle, i see 4 maybe 5 bolts that hold the tank on in the picture thats in this thread if the tank's bolt holes are oval for adjusting where the tank sits maybe it's too far to the rear and the rear axle is bumping it

is your spare tire under your jeep like in that picture diagram?

is it loose? is there a rock in it

i assume that you've checked to make sure all tail pipe hangers are existing like they're supposed to be?

the problem your jeep has is very puzzling

i agree with whoever has said it, the problem must be simple and we've just over looked it

i had similar problem in a pickup once, there was a baseball that would bounce and hit my tailgate, but everytime i stopped to see what it was, it would hide itself under my toolbox behind things :lol:

It wasn't until I was ripping the toolbox off because i thought that was what it was, when i found it

I wouldn't let them replace any drivetrain just yet...

You might read this, then go find a hill and do what the guy suggests and see if it acts like the O.P.'s jeep. Maybe just sounds different under different circumstances, but if you match his application you may find the same behavior.

Also try rocking it backward and forward in park. Do you hear it clunking at each end of the rock? Could be your rear ball joint.

I get clunking sometimes when stopping at a stoplight and sometimes when leaving a stoplight. I haven't heard it consistantly enough to pinpoint the exact behavior that causes it yet though. From verbal description TonyCRD gave in that post, it sounds about like what I'm seeing. I've had some tracking issues as well since I bought the jeep, but I just figured that was part wind / part jeep.

mine get's a clunk here and there after i take it offroad and stretch it a bit, it settles down after a day or so of normal driving i figure it's just the rear suspension settling back in it's comfortable place but mine is more of a felt clunk than an audible clunk, at first i thought it was a U-Joint slopping because it would happen after i had stopped and went to accelerate again but it always goes away after say 10 start and stops

there are no rear ball joints on the KK. Instead of a 3 link like the KJ, The KK uses a 5 link system

I did check with engine off and parking and two guys pussing the cars.
I CAN HEAR THE NOISE BUT WE CAN NOT FIND THE EXACT PLACE WHERE IT COMES FROM.

They could not find the tranfer, the car has.
First they took the numbers =VIN ,transfer number =2.72 ect
Then they call me again to see the tranfer case and finally they disassembly the transfer and find out its wrong order.
Please send a new JEEP from U.S

P.S i ll send you back the 3.7 engine

do you know what tcase number they ordered? What t case do you have right now( command trac or select trac ) and what transmission ( 6 speed manual or 5 speed auto) I will look up the p/n for you

There is no part number in Greece for the transer case only for the gears inside.

try PM'ing TJKJ2002 He is very knowledgeable with our transfer cases, he may be able to help you with finding Part numbers and things. He may not check the KK section to have seen this.

End of stoy.
They replace the fuel tank and the noise stoped.
Strange but it worked..................
They didn't tell my if there was something wrong with the old one.

probably whatever was wrong, was corrected by them taking off the fuel tank and putting the new one back on, maybe one of the bolts was loose to begin with, who knows?

the noise came back again. But now its warranty is over..............
Also jeep in Greece is not going very well. The rumors are saing that they might close and FIAT will start ,from the beging.
