Spoke to the guy today at 2pm and they had just got it off the tilt truck and commented that it didn't sound good, should know a bit more 2morow after they have had a look with the scan tool. He said it sounded like stripped gears but there was nothing in the pan or filter when I took them off????????

must be too much power through the trans from the 4.1's and DTTS

i tell you what mud , i will swap your diff's for mine and that will fix the problem

You have already done one trany, I'd hate to see you do a second.

Hows it going with your diff bits anyway? found all the right stuff and supplier??

Yeah Mate my "Bits" are on the way, should be here soon. Crikey I've gone MAD... Diffs, Rockrails.... WHATS next you all ask......... ITs.....................................................................................

Doesn't make sense to have grinding and no shavings??????? I'm really hoping its a servo or something, and the grinding is just the gears not meshing , and not suppling power..Other thing could be the Torque converter, maybe Its done a vane and can't build up pressure????

CLUNK in deed. That SRT Hemi produces 569 NM of torque, will your tranny and diffs handle that?

You can have 78% of that (440 NM) with a 2.8 CRD and a DP Chip (and will go higher), and get much better fuel economy.

Think..... It might be a B&G ECU reflash from the State actually. and the powershift valves for thr tranny.
reckon we can easily get 180kw out of the V6 and with torque control removed and a quicker more positive gear change, as well as related torque converter setting altered... it would be very Good.

Also thinking of a BIG petrol tank for distances.

Early prognosis is the planetary gears. He is going to start dismantling today.

Still no more news yet on the tranny.
The good news is that the order has gone in for the WH CRD, BBBUUUTTTT there is a 16 week wait for the Lorado with the Quadradrive 11 and outback pack. Ah well the J10 is getting some use now.

Transfer case.........CACTUS

Replacement pair going in. Second hand from Jeeeparts,40000Ks.

Cost....$5500 aprox.
The mechanic said I did well to get 200000Ks out of it as many don't go much past 130--150000Ks.

He is not real sure but his belief is maybe service intervals need to be shortened right up in our climate. I have been doing a full change of all drive line oils at 50000Ks so maybe from now on I'll do them at 25000Ks.
apparently the transfer case had a lot of play in it and some how the gears have picked up the selector fork and made mince out of it. In the tranny most of all the hard surface areas had deteriorated very bad and clutch packs about shot and bearing in the back end completly shot.
In thinking back now there has been a noise there somewhere and at first I had put it down to tyres as the alignment has been out a bit since they put the DTT's in, but lately I had started to change my mind on it being the tyres as the noise stayed the same regardless of the road surface but I could not put my finger on it. ( the noise, CMohr ).
Anyway they are 'ted and need to be replaced. To rebuild them was going to cost a lot more than a second hand one.

Might be cheaper, even with frieght..

I always said if and when mine dies, I'll be seriuosly looking at a Manual conversion,
