when you bought plugs, did you get the same ones that came out of your truck or did you just pull some off hte wall that looked cool? because going over a little on your heat range is not going to burn your engine up or cause something to hang up. that sounds like something happened and the shop wanted to make some money off someone who doesn't know to much about cars. you can get preignition from carbon in the chamber getting to hot but that will cause knocking which you would hear and feel as lost power. it sounds like maybe the plugs were to long and hit the tops of the pistons and hte tips broke off getting jammed in there and destroying things more then to hot and caused misfire.

did they show you what they pulled out and explain it or just tell you a give you a bill?

always ask to see what they replace if they say it was messed up from something so they cannot pull any crap on you.

Based on everything you've written in this particular thread and others on this forum, I'd say steer clear of ANY Jeep and go buy a brand spankin' new Hyundai or something. You quite clearly aren't capable of maintaining a modified offroad vehicle and it seems like a car with a 10-year 100,000 mile warranty would be a good fit for ya.

If you buy another Jeep, you're going to spend money on cheap lifts and accessories that you don't know how to install or maintain yourself (just like you did with this one) and end up with another money pit giving you problems that most Jeepers can fix themselves but you, sir, cannot.

yea if i hated america i would buy a hyundai. im pretty sure i havent done anything hard on this vehicle. im always careful and i keep all my fluids changed. the only mistake i have made was telling my dad to get the liberty over the rubicon. this vehicle isnt made for this. i have went the cheap way on my rustys lift and now i have 4 new ome springs in the garage. thats it. nothing else cheap was put on my car. i just found out today they have replaced the ball joints 3 times on the car. what happens when it goes out while im driving. my spare tire is now leaking air out of the valve. it wasnt when i went in. but now it is. they insist they did nothing wrong and want to charge me a $100 diagnostic fee and $100 deductible and thats if its covered. my diff in the front is leaking. wasnt a week ago. now it is. they will say its off road related and refuse to cover it. then what? just the other day i couldnt get it to start. $200 for chrysler to even look at it. what have i done to the car to cause that between 3-4 pm?go 60 on the highway? i would leave america before i drive a Japanese vehicle.

Dealer ships really that bad in the states?? 200 just to look at a vehicle. To his defense I don't know how to install many things on my vehicle. But I have the sense to take it to a good local mechanic. Plus I poke away money for my KJ so I don't cut my self short for the important stuff. Just ask around, everyone knows who the crooks are. Oh by the way you don't have to pay a deductible unless its covered under warranty. Thats a fact because I'm waiting for a wiring kit to come to redo a melt wiring harness in my KJ.
Yes dealerships can be ( * ) but you havnt got to take there doo doo if they ain't right. Seems like your lackin a bit of common sense. Look at your warranty contract by, stand up for yourself. No point in a warranty if there going to hussle you out of money anyways.
I think the guys are right, there older then me and u  So they have just a tad bit more experience so you can listen.
You got an advantage, you live in the same country with all these guys and all the parts are in the US. So save your money, get your jeep taken care of.. and when your on your feet and can buy parts. Host a LOST BBQ. I'm sure some of the guys wouldn't mind coming your way for BBQ and beers & a lil KJ rebuild.
From what I seem to notice to become a serious offroader your going to need cash to back it.
Im doubtful you'll be going MOAB and if you do. Your not going to take your DD to it, especailly if it gets you to your work to make your bread & butter.
So my advice is f@#k the offroad with your KJ either get it repaired and get your life straightened away. Or sell it and get a economy car and still get your life straightened away.

Your in no way harder on your KJ then I am with mine.I beat the snot out of it every chance I get. It's my daily driver and has never left me stranded.I know the risk though and my modified KJ can out wheel a stock Rubicon TJ/JK.Not ment to do what? The Liberty was the last new Jeep that has successfully completed the Rubicon trail in stock form, granted it had a D44 in the rear but the rest was the same(and the same D30A in the front).Saying a KJ can't hold up offroad is like saying fish can't handle being in water  .

I'm rather OCD about maintaining my vehicle,I've only got 66,000 miles on my KJ and most likely have replaced every fluid more times then yours and about 20 other combined. It takes my over 1 hour to do my oil change, actually the oil change only takes about 10mins but the other 50+mins are spent scrutinizing every single bolt/nut,seal,gasket,and everything else under my KJ every 3000miles.I also do all my own work on my KJ,though a dealership does my transmission flushes(sorry I'm not buying a $4000 machine),and I mean everything from my lift to the orange paint job was all done by me.My KJ has had broken stuff, the check engine light has been on before but I take care of it as soon as that part or light has broken/come on.The biggest key is my OCD maintenance schedule, and the fact I will at will change fluids/parts even if they have only been in for a few days or weeks just because I'm board.

In the long run it is very cost effective, after 7 years my KJ is still running like the day I drove it off the dealer lot with 3 miles on the odometer.Spend money now and it will last longer with less problems in the future. Now problems will occur, you can not get around that since stuff just wears out.You having a manual trans you are at a very big disadvantage since the clutch is mad to wear just like your brakes.

Grease is cheaper than parts.

Wear parts/broken parts replaced by Troy and I in the more-years-and-miles-that-we-put-on-our-KJs-than-yours-both-on-and-off-road added up, at retail prices, including labor to install them at normal shop rates, combined between both Jeeps, would probably be drastically lower than what yours are.

Troy has the same mileage as you (essentially), and ThunderbirdJunkie has almost double your mileage.

What's the cost of being broken down on the trail? or even in a parking lot?

and compare tjkj's maintenance schedule with the $16-$20K of buying a newer vehicle.

Reading this thread - it seems to me that the biggest issue is that you don't have a reliable mechanic -
someone you can trust. You might want to spend some time looking for them first -
because that will continue to be an issue with any vehicle.
