Tell me what you use to break those rusted nuts and bolts loose. Going to be starting my lift soon and would like to give everything a shot before I start.

PB Blaster, you can normally find it at most parts places in the big 1 gallon can that comes with a refillable spray bottle. If you have alot of corrosion I'd be hitting all the nuts/bolts twice a day for at least a week.

well that was fast! Thanks. I will look for it this week. I am rusty but not overly so. KJ originally came from Pennsylvania so I am sure there is some salt issues under there.

lol, you can use a hot wrench (torch) and heat it up and squirt the PB and it will draw the pb down into the threads

kind of like when ya workin with copper plumbing

Yep. PB Blaster. There is no chemical substitute.

ok, so is this a normal step when busting apart a front end to do a lift or is this just for the tough cases? Also, am I getting in over my head? Thankfully I have a spare vehicle and can take my time.

The steps mentioned above are for when you need to go that route. Aka: Tough cases? I guess you'd call it that.

PSSST!!!! Once you DO get those parts removed, use some never-seize on them. You'll PROBABLY never have to take them apart again, but if you do, you won't have to worry about your nuts and bolts freezing up. I do it the 1st time I replace the brakes on all my vehicles, and it works great. (Or whenever I replace anything ELSE, for that matter). 8)

Are you doing a frankenlift? If so make sure you check/tighten those top nuts on the struts before you install. Sometimes they ship loose.

Be very careful about using anti-seize on critical nuts/bolts.They are ment for dry torque and application of anti-seize changes the torque required to properly torque nuts/bolts without damaging them.

Plasma cutter is useless for trying to free seized bolts unless you are cutting the bolt head off.

never used or seen Kroil before, is it an order only product similar to amsoil unless you're able to find a shop that sells it?
