2001 VW bug 2.0 engine

It runs great most of the time, every so often it goes into that diesel style safe mode

computer shows a throttle body fault, service department says you can only get the entire TB assembly

Any ideas or experience with this sort of thing?

Wow I finally get to respond. And give bad news. The stealership is right, unless you can find one in the bone yard you have to buy a whole new assembly
