I'm just curious if any of you folks with the HIDs have been pulled over yet?

Know anybody who has?

Have any stories about the ticket/towing?

I was trying to find some info online here, and the only thing I found was a retired cop up in BC - Canada, who whenever he pulled over somebody with non-factory-installed HID's, had the vehicle towed, and seized for a proper inspection before being allowed back on the road.

I'm just wondering if I want to take that chance... also, given the guys links... we could use any of his kits that are listed as "h13"?

Ive driven by cops and have not been pulled over for my hids...... I decided to take the fogs out because IT WAS TOO MUCH..... I am sure no one will seize your car because of HIDS.
Regarding the size just get any kit and specify the model /year/size/temp on the paypal payment page... you should be fine
Do it, you wont regret it
PS: IMO texas cops are a bunch of Tight A$$es..... and they could not care less about my hids......

HID's come standard on 100's of cars and are options are 100's of other cars. Anyone being pulled over for them is total BS. If you get pulled over for them then tell the cop to pull over every Mercedes and BMW they see on the road also.

The reason for people being pulled over with non oem HIDS is because of the light housing design.....
Installing an hid bulb on a halogen housing causes LOTS of glare....... As Ive told before, get an hid kit with low kelvins... to my experience and knowledge.... you produce less glare with lower temps.......
6000k is the ideal bulb for me

I will add to this.

Adjust them right
buy normal HID like the 6000K; Silver is pointing out.
Do not do things to attracked COPs to you. like smoking burn outs.

Cops tend to only care, if they need a reason to you over for other reason. like they think you are drunk or have drugs, they will use HID miss adjusted as a valid reason. be cool and respectful and 99% of the time they let you go. unless you had been speeding in a school zone..

Get them.. they are worth it.

Agree with Silver here, stick with the 6000K and you should be fine. I think if you get the purplish or darker blue ones, you are asking for trouble. But i have had them for months, and driven by cops and never had a problem. Also in agreement that there are so many OEM and non-OEM HID's on the road, that cops really don't have time or concern enough to mess with soneone with HIDs.

which tabs? if you are talking about the ones by the lights, they are one the outside bottom where the headlight housing comes in at a 45 degree angle towards the bottom of the unit

i actually installed HIDs without taking the grill off. unless you are changing fog lights its not necessary. but pix on how to take off the grill and the bumper would be awesome!

I've got HID's on my 06' Liberty. It was one of the first things I did to it when I got it. I had them on my old truck 1999 S-10 ZR2. I never had issues with the cops. Even when I would get pulled over for speeding or what not, they never said anything. I never had issues with inspection either.
I don't think I'll be getting them for my fogs though. I thought about it, but think that'll just be overkill.
I understand that HID's cause glare, I've heard it many times... but I've seen too many Mercedes/Lexus and BMWs that still annoy me when coming my direction.
So if you're thinking about getting HID's, I'd say do it.

I have an 8000K kit on my Liberty and love them. They best thing you can do for your truck. I have a lot of streets in my area that don't have street lights and my HIDs give me more visibility then my stock high beams on these roads.

hrogi those aren't the bixenons. I too had trouble finding them, but try googling it, they are out there. But ultimately I couldn't turn down the deal for $58 for the regular xenons.
