Radar detectors good for radar cameras

Cook County, IL (also known as Crook County) is going to or got approval from the State Legislature to install radar to generate NO POINTS $100 revenue enhancements.

I would rather provide income to a good online merchant than supplement the revenue of some leach on the public dole.

As much as I would like to have Radar Seeking Phazer Cannons mounted on the KJ roof to take the radar cameras out, I will settle for a good quality compact cost effective radar detector that will give me the heads up when I drive through a Crook County Trap Zones.

What you got, how you like it, and who is a good online merchant.

IL still planning to start doin those cameras and radars mounted all over the highway/freeways?

doo doo like that is just one of the handfulls of things I'm not lookin forward to when I move there in May/June

I come from a 'Free State'

No tolls, Handgun/concealed permits, low crime in most areas and the stuff that writes you tickets drive vehicles

we only have a few traffic cam stuff at like, bad intersections and what not

I don't have this model. I have the older 8500 X50. But I know that the Escort Passport 9500ix has what you are looking for. My old one has the same detection technology as the 9500ix, and it is awesome. Never has failed me. Great detection. The 9500i integrated GPS to the unit so you can tag common false alarms like that convenience store that always blips. Then the 9500ix has the ability to upload red light camera and speed trap points that are GPS points. They are pricey, but they are the best out there. Watch your local craigslist. I have seen them in the DFW craigslist a couple of times each month for $100-$200 off MSRP.

my garmin has some speed trap / cam info in it but has the ability to set and upload more but I haven't done a thing with it yet

A GPS one maybe the way to go. Many of the permanent photo units do not use radar-- they are magnetic and installed in the road bed. The detector will do nothing for those. If you have the photo vans, many of them use a European short range radar. That radar is not picked up by the older detector units. Then there is laser... you really can't detect laser until it is too late in most situations... but you can jam it legally in many locations.

i have the 9500ix and it is amazing. it goes off miles before others will. the gps is nice for blocking automatic doors and such. when i am on the highways near Chicago it has saved me many times.i got mine on ebay for 350 when it first came out. i would definatly suggest this one. IMO its the best out there
