What is this?

Upgrading stereo and found 6 pin locking plug on top of dash under pad. Feeds to wire harness but nothing for it to go to? Ideas??

I don't know much about the TJ's; is it possible that it is for some factory optioned GPS package?

Kinda like how in the KJ's you get the wiring for the EVIC whether or not your vehicle got it at the factory?

I'm interested to find out what it is really for

If you found it under the dash, it might be for the steering wheel mounted audio controls.

You hit it man.

My TJ had that. when I replaced my head unit I had mine connected. I traced the wires and it led to the steering wheel.

I'm pretty sure that's for the compass/temp mirror. It comes out of the dash around where the wire comes up for my compass/mirror.
