Hey, no problem. Glad to help out.

On the pricing - I got mine at Sams Club for $112 MOUNTED, each. I have been back and looked again since, and they are still right in that ballpark, while everything else in a 245+ width and 70/75 heights was STARTING at $150 and going rapidly north from there.

By the way, this should be the biggest selling point for the BF Goodrich tires:

MADE IN THE USA

Kinda gives a REALLY warm and fuzzy feel that you don't get buying Communist China Crap brand. I'm equally surprised that not only did I find something made in the USA in Sams Club (Walmart) but it was the CHEAPEST PRODUCT of the selection!

Will wonders never cease.

You never mentioned that you were in the Mafia...

How else could you have stolen the tires for that little? Either that, or the retail market is just SCREWING the public down here in Savannah. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

At least the tires are made here, so the money is staying HERE instead of lining the pockets of a government that doesn't like the USA much at all. I'd happily pay more for that knowledge.

Also, not ONE single product that I have bought that was made in the USA has ever failed under hard usage. USA products have always exceeded their designs in my experience. Yay for QUALITY, y'know?

according to Wiki - The Goodrich corp sold the Tire business to Michelin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B.F._Goodrich

of course that doesn't mean they shut the plants - just redirect the profits.

BFG long trails:
http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/naviga ... tem=172787

Commercial TA:
http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/naviga ... tem=179989

From discount:
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTi ... INT&cs=245

At discount though if you sweet talk em you can get 15% off. Plus this is typically a time when discount is hurting for units, so they are more likely to give you a good price to get some units sold.

I just ordered 2 Kumho 798's for the KJ front. The rears are almost 2mm to th ewear bars so they need to be replaced. The fronts will go to the rear. I burn through tires so it is easy to buy them 2 at a time. $90 each at Tire Rack.

Cooper Discoverer S/T or S/T-C. It's a better all around tire as compared to the BFG AT/KO. Cooper is also a US company that manufactures it's tires in the US, compared to the BFG which is a French owned company(Michellin) that manufactures their tires in Mexico.

Wrong size for the Commercial T/A (and I saw that both are the same 245/75) but they are showing as $145 (commercial) and $135 (Long Trail) but they don't talk about the treadwear life. I would bet that the Long Trails are a softer tire, b/c they are rated faster (106mph vs 99) even at the same load.

Discount Tire had the Long Trails at the same price however, $135.

Sams has the 235/85 Commercial tires at $137 however, and while it shows as a "special order" they carry them standard in the sams closest to me.

Oh, and this was on the page for the 235/85 commercial tires:

Assembled Country of Origin:
USA
Components Country of Origin:
USA and Imported

Not sure what could be imported in a tire, maybe the belt materials. But I don't really care who the parent company is, as long as the work is being done here by Americans. Kinda balances out the "American" owned businesses that manufacture everything in Mexico or China.... Like GM.

no its not the wrong size, I picked the 245/75 because the largest tire that will shove under stock.

Ok, that makes sense. I prefer height to width b/c width equals friction, but the 235/85 should have the same outer diameter while being a bit narrower.

The tires showed today at 1200 from FedEx, that was quick.

Thanks Darby,

These look like great choices. I will check them out.

Is the 245 size going to rub on a non-lifted configuration of the Liberty?

Again, thanks - you have always given great information.

Grateful regards!

I am running the Toyo Open Country HTs in a 235/75/16 and love them.

Another tire that was just introduced by Hercules is the new All Trac which comes in a 245/70/16 (not the same as the Hercules Terra Trac ATs). It is fairly aggressive as an AT but has a great tread desgn for the road.

I have the 245's and they don't rub. I don't like them in the snow though.

I bought the Firestone Destination ATs 245/75/16 and had them installed today. They rub a bit in the front when I turn, however, my speedometer is no longer 3 mph off. The tires are quiet and were nice in the rain today.

Anyone have any ideas on how to reduce the rub on the front tires when I turn a sharp corner? Thanks!

Look at where they rub, mark/remember it, take the wheel off, heat with heat gun, push hot plastic out of way.

That is an interesting idea. 8) I had considered some cutting (plastic surgery), but this is certainly more viable. Now to find a heat gun!

Thanks for the great idea!

Just bought myself a set of General Grabber AT2's from Americas/Discount tire about a week ago. Im a big BFG AT fan, but I had a set of the grabbers on a 1973 Wagoneer and they seemed pretty good, so I thought I would try them again on my CRD. I bought 245/70/16, and they have not rubbed under any circumstances yet. They are pretty quiet for the most part, but I can hear them hum a little from 30-35 mph. They are great in the rain so far, and relatively responsive on dry pavement for this type of tire. I paid $570ish installed, plus general has a $50 mail in rebate. So far, so good.
