Hate to break it to ya, but you won't get much help here for what you are planning on doing. Not that it hasn't been tried or thought of before, just that those guys have moved on from this site. These days it's a core group who really push buying particular parts and bolting them on.
You will be hard pressed to find anyone with helpful info on how to do some major front end work, like straight front axle swaps, or re-engineering the exising suspension.....again, these guys have mostly moved on from here.

isnt there a whole section dedicated to SFA liberties? can you point me to somewhere i can find ANY information on SFA liberties...

and the reason no one wants to re-engineer the front suspension is beause the front diff. is soo weak, the same amount of work will get you a solid axle.

sorry to get off topic fellas

i already have some drawings, and more drawings, and measuments, and drawings... it can be done, but... its work. You have to do a bit more than just drop the front cradle a few inches. in order for it to work good, you would need to find a way to lower the uca also, or get a knuckle that has the extra ammount of drop that you want. tranny, tcase, theres a lot more in it. It can be done though, as long as it "can" be done 8) I even found a way through measurments and talking to a few of the fab guys i work with to mount a coilover from the uni to the lca... baja libby ;)

all considered though, it would cost more to do this style of lift than it would to SFA swap my jeep. And considering i have no coin at the moment to play with even for new tires... :(

Hey guys,

Well, the jeep is in the driveway. with the trans removed and all the other fine trimmings.. Im just waiting to buy another to install..

as im waiting, I was also going to fab up a simple k frame and trans cross blocks. just thinking about 3/4 to 1 inch bar. I may also have to consider a similar c shape block or something for the spring contact and alignment issues .. simmmilar to jeepinbyal's or something different.. ??

im sure a couple guys have seen it in the driveway FOREVER! Mitch. and maybe others.. lol

but my overalll goal is to get as close to factory specs as I can while also keeping the front 5 1/2 lift set up, for now..

a little offtopic.. but that picture in your sig. always boggles my mind... that is completely outrageous flex for IFS.. or SFA for that matter! especially with 33's that you had in the pictures....

and your plan sounds very interesting.. glad to see people coming up with new ideas and trying them out. they that's the only why you'll know right?

only one person has commented about swampthng's lift and k drop idea and he didnt even mention anything about it, I think if you can do it and it helps and its not risky looking or anything more power to you!

That's because you missed the 12 page thread about swmpthg when his rig first appeared.
(he wasn't even a member for about 4-5 pages)

Well last night I was reading through some really old posts by jeepin al and he was talking about using grand cherokee knuckels because they are an inch taller and then doing a 1 inch kfram drop because I was talking to marlin and he still wants 1200 for the knuckel extensions so I have to figure something else out.

And trust me those knuckle extensions are scary. Especially for 1200! now I'm sure they will work just fine, and be strong enough, but I would just hate to have even more ball joints to worry about.

Good luck on trying to engineer something else on it! be safe with it

Wolfman....do what you want to do and see if you can make it work. Think about it being safe and just try to make something that works for you. Some of the folks here probably sound a bit jerkish when they give advice but it is just them speaking from their own experiences. Make some of your own experiences, trials and failures and successes and see what you come up with.
