Wondering if a 6 speed tranny will fit/ transfer to a 2004 2.4 5 spd tran. I would like to get 1st gear lower (or higher whichever is correct. I would like it to go slower in 1st) . The little 4 cyl. has a tough time sometimes in first. it's moving pretty quick. A lower 1st would help out with towing too.
Is this an option? I think the 2005 4 bangers came with a 6 spd. didn't they?? Anybody have one or any experience w/ one

if i remember correctly i do not believe a 4 banger was offered in 05.. or 06... i do love my low 1st gear

I could be wrong, but I think '06 was the first year for the 6 speeds, and this only came with the 3.7's.

Yep and no 4 banger gas KJ's after '05 either.

so could a fellow use a 6spd from a 3.7?

I doubt it since the 2.4 gas engine used a different 5 speed tranny then the 3.7's did and looking no automatic trans was offered for the 2.4 gas.

If you are only 2wd you can regear to 4.56 gears in the rear diff for better lowend,if your 4wd you have the lowest gear ratio already of 4.10 due to 4.10 is the lowest you can go in the front D30A.
