I just noticed a screw in my rear drivers side tire. I have a good spare that has 0% wear that I can throw on until I order new tires. Will running a new tire with 3 very worn tires cause any problems? I know someone at work that had problems with this but I think he had full-time AWD on his grand cherokee. I have part-time. I plan on ordering new tires anyway but need to throw this spare on ASAP.

Thanks

OK, so there IS something not good about running a new tire which essentially has a larger diameter than my other worn tires? I drive about 30mi round trip a day to work on highway at about 70mph.

Unless the tires are totally worn out, there is still less than a inch difference in height so it isn't a huge deal. Only problem I can see it causing really is a pulling to one side if run on the front. The rear you shouldn't notice a difference and the rear diff will not care. It is better to have them all closer in size so just get it fixed as soon as you can.

thanks. I have a plug kit so think I will just plug it and order new tires. At least I have the full size spare while I wait.

Big wear differences might make steering weird in some circumstances, so put the new tire on one of the rear positions, with the two closest matched treads up front.

do you have trash-loc?

if you have an open differential in 2wd it should be no issue
