so its not the speakers in my jeep but i was wondering if i could get some help anyways

its in my older mercedes 190e i recently put a pair of new speakers in the front dash, but the tweeter that sits in the right speaker seems to be getting really hot. it has the stock stereo head unit in it. today was my first long drive with them in and i noticed that there was some smoke coming from it. any suggestions? they are 3.5 inch speakers with tweeters mounted in them.

You know they are hot how? Because of the smoke or because you feel it? It sounds to me like a poorly soldered connection (perhaps in the speaker build itself) not surviving the inital 'burn-in' period.
However, if you can feel heat, different story.
Have you pulled the speaker(s) and looked them over?

i hadn't put covers back on them and it burned my skin to touch it, anyways i pulled it apart and the connection for the attached tweeters got shoved over because of the tight fit and was sitting against the magnet casing, went home and added rubber guards over the connections. all better now

There could also be some type of shortage with the wires from the head unit to the speaker.
