Hi, I own a 05 CRD Limited. She has give me tons of problems since it was new.

Last month, I had the infamous ECR Value issue, so I did the SEGR modification. Love the result.

Two days ago, while drivering normally on local street. My CRD starts to make a noice that sounds like with a slipping wheels or vacume. It sound particularly bad when I hit 1800 rom (where the turbo should start to kick in).

I thought it might be the booster hose. I took the nice engine cover off yesterday and can't find anything loss.
Take it to the dealer this morning. The tech thinks the intake into the turbo was broken. (there was a small wear due to rub against the airbox hose.) Spends $309 to change it, althought I did not think it was the problem.
Get the jeep back this afternoon, and sure enough, the noise/lack of power/smoke when hit 1800~200 rpm still there. Drop the CRD back to the dealer right away. The manager was nice enough to offer me a rental car.

Have any of you had similar experience? Please Help!! Thank you!!

Have the dealer check the code with his scanner. Sounds like the vehicle has gone into "limp mode".

you said noise - did you have any power loss?

if it's a noise only -and the noise matches engine speed not vehicle speed -

I'd be focused more on the fan belt - or a pulley - the alternator has a decoupling pulley that a couple of people have had problems with - simple change at a garage - but the dealer would probably change the alternator too.
There's also a tensioning pulley that could go bad.

and some of the V6 guys have had power steering problems

I suppose the turbo could have something scrapping/dragging - but I haven't seen any posts about that.

Map sensor/ EGR/ blown turbo hose - would cause power loss or rough running - not a slipping wheel - which I'd interpret as a rubber squeal.

You are probably correct in your thinking that it is a boost hose. I just had one go this weekend with exactly the same symptoms. A dirty MAP or MAF sensor will not cause a sudden loss of power, black smoke, or whooshing sound. The CAC hoses almost always split on the bottom where the damage isn't visible, so you will have to remove the hoses in order to see which one is burst, or if you have a good ear you can follow the sound. Removal is a 5 minute job, but it is really messy because of the oil on and in the hoses.

JeepBumm68: there is no such thing as an "EGR sensor". Might have you been referring to the MAF sensor?

I had a split in my driver side inter cooler hose on the underneath side complete loss of power. $79.00 and 15 minutes I replaced the hose. Passenger side still in great shape. I did the ORM at 14,000 cleaned the MAP sensor unhooked the FCV valve and my MAP sensor has not gotten dirty since I also run my crankcase ventilation into a milk jug with a filter on the end and the jug is stuffed with paper towels that I have to change about every 6 to 8 weeks. At least I am not dumping all those dirty fumes back into the turbo. Oh I had to replace the decoupler on the alternator last summer and no problems since. It was nice they redesigned that part twice since the original. I get around 29 to 30 mpg on the highway in the warm months a little less in the colder months. I am at 108,000 right now and no problems.

My hose split about a year ago on my 05 CRD. I was going down the street and then all of a sudden there was this rush of air noise and the vehicle started bucking and belching black smoke. I pulled over immediately, turned off the engine and looked around but didn't see anything. So I started it up and it sounded fine at idle but when I would give it the gas and try to go down the road again, at around 1800 rpms I would hear the same sound and the same symptoms. I felt the hoses and could not see or even feel any split. At that time, not knowing the CRD that well and the fact that it was still under warranty, I called the dealer and had them tow it in. Sure enough, it was a split hose. It was fairly small and would seal itself off when it was not under pressure. But as soon as pressure was applied, it would open right up.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I DID loss power. I have almost full power up to the turbo kick in RPM. Then the noise + engine run rough + smokes (some times white, sometimes black). I will check the hoses as suggested by many of you.
Thank you!! I will keep all of you posted.

Sounds like we have identical issues, could you please tell me which on is split on yours. Maybe you can find the service records? Thank you very much!!!

Yeah - if you lost power - the Turbo hose split

- I think normally it's the turbo to intercooler - but they replaced both of mine - the other side was pretty bad too.

if you're still under warranty - they should replace them with new style hoses

if you're not - Samco is the best - and only a little more than factory

The pictures also show the routing - check for leaks - they start as small splits and grow larger.

Thank you all for the suggestions, pointers, and help.
I checked both hoses this afternoon and found the intercooler to intake hose has a split fir about 4 inches long. I am waiting for my Smaco to arrive. Meanwhile, I put some duck tape around it. And it is working.
Thank you all!!
