Please post pics of the new ball joints in your KJ. If you had them replaced and took pics of them, I would love to see if they look like my "New" ones.

Is it just me or do those NOT look like 1 day old ball joints?

Or how about this? Anyone here have a new Liberty they can go take some pics of the lower ball joints and post them here? Preferably new with few miles and no dirt? I know, good luck considering it is Winter.

Okay, is that pathetic little excuse for a heat shield really supposed to stay on? Is there a hidden click somewhere else that holds it in place besides what is visible? What's visible doesn't look like it would stay on even during on-road driving, let alone off-roading.

lol, nope, thats all that holds it. I really dont understand why they didnt put an entire heat shield like every other car has. Even the back rotors on the kj has it. Very stupid idea in my book.

Looks like they did'nt change them. The new ball joint I got had a new shiny stem on it. That's BS.

Hey JJ, I do not think they replaced them. Like Edwin said, the new ones shaft would be clean, also your boots look pretty dirty to me. also if you look at the top of the joint, you can see the rust line from your knuckle on the cap of the "new" one. especially on the driverside one.

What a five-star load of crap! I'm livid and it's not even MY truck!

Go HERE and request a customer satisfaction form. Fill it out to your POed heart's content. Call them. Email and snailmail them. DC corporate needs to know that one of their centers is acting like this!!

The worst part of this is I have already spent 4 stressful days just trying to get them to fix it then this is what I find. There is no way in hell I am going to leave my vehicle with them again overnight. If they can't fix it the same day this time, I will just do the work myself. You can bet that Anyone that will listen to my complaints will be getting an earful. I will be starting with the service manager and working my way up and they will hear the whole story regardless of what they do to fix it. This whole ordeal has really jacked me up and I cannot believe it has happened. I will get No satisfaction unless I know they have at the least fired someone over this and then I will still Never give them any more of my business. I have never been more pissed.

was there something wrong with Your balljoints? I believe that they checked them and decided to keep the orginals then added the heat shield. The service letter i recieved says that those will be changed only if they are bad.

The original ball joint inspection (they said they were fine then) and heat shield install took place a year ago on my Jeep. It went in on the 6th because I found play in the uppers and took it in for them to replace under warranty. They then told me they would order parts and made another appt. for the 13th. My 36k/3 yr. will be up real soon so I decided to just get them to do the work. My hope was that the new ball joints will last me until i go SFA in about a year.
I know plenty about my Jeep and I also know the joints are still bad. I will go home today and set up my dial indicator and make note of how much play I find and then tomorrow they are getting a visit from me. I don't think it is going to be pretty. My biggest mistake was even bothering to take it to them. I should have just done the work myself but it was also going in for a leaky power steering line that they did replace. ugh. :x

John I have the same problem with my uppers and Jeep told me they were "within spec" ...total BS

with the jack under the A arm Im able to move the wheel inward at the 12 o'clock so much that you can see the movement from 5 feet away (Jim and Rollins saw it). We did the same thing to another KJ with 30K more on the clock and there was NO movement..

I've got the parts on order and im doing the work on my own dime....screw 'em...this way I'll have the old parts to send to the NTSB when I make a formal complaint.

Good Luck... 8)

JJ, aren't you one of the ones who had a diff grenade at Camp Jeep last year? Is this the same dealer that replaced your diff? I would of thought if it was, they wouldn't pull something like that on you, especially knowing about your diff grenading in front of the Jeep Engineers.
