Spacebar woes for me always = eating a bagel at the keyboard and crumbs getting stuck underneath... try inverting it and shaking it to get some of that stuff out.
Sorry to hear the loss... you not going to be able to buy back the carcass? Usually salvage is about $50, and is a deal several times over.

When my wife's car was totaled, they gave us fair market value ($5000). Then they said, "You can keep the totaled car, or we can give you $200 for it." So we wouldn't have had to technically PAY a cent for it, just take a few less hundred dollars that they were offering.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the space to store a car while I stripped it and sold to good bits away (I could have made MUCH more than $200 off what was still in good shape). But, as tomsjeep said, it's a deal several times over...if you have the room to do it.

and if I had the money I'd buy it back slvage yard some doors, look arond for glass and a few other things and GO OFFROAD, no holds bared, if you run into something whats the loss?
