The Stanadyne/Power Service stuff is proven useless for improving lubricity beyond the fuel manufacturer's levels, where the TC-3 2 stroke oil does improve it.

8)Stanadyne Lubricity Formula
Lubricity Only
demulsifier, 5% bio-diesel compatible, alcohol free
HFRR 479, 157 micron improvement <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<READ THIS.. What part of improvement don't you get????????
1000:1 ratio
3.32 oz/tank
$1.00/tank

Same as two-stroke and cheaper.

4)Opti-Lube Summer Blend
Multi-purpose
demulsifier
HFRR 447, 189 micron improvement <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< See above question.
3000:1 ratio
1.11 oz/tank
$0.68/tank

Better than two-stroke at HALF the cost.

Minor improvement, but you still miss my point. Here is the conclusion...

Quote:
CONCLUSIONS:

Products 1 through 4 were able to improve the unadditized fuel to an HFRR score of 460 or better. This meets the most strict requirements requested by the Engine Manufacturers Association.
Products 1 through 9 were able to improve the unadditized fuel to an HFRR score of 520 or better, meeting the U.S. diesel fuel requirements for maximum wear scar in a commercially available diesel fuel.
Here is the rest...
Quote:
The U.S. standard for diesel fuel says a commercially available diesel fuel should produce a wear scar of no greater than 520 microns. The Engine Manufacturers Association had requested a standard of a wear scar no greater than 460 microns, typical of the pre-ULSD fuels. Most experts agree that a 520 micron standard is adequate, but also that the lower the wear scar the better.

So the point is even Standyne Lubricity formula does not improve lubricity to the point where it meets the engine manufacturer's recommendations. I never made a point about Optilube, but if you read the rest you can see Power Service is next to useless, and Stanadyne Performance is even worse.

Quote:
10)Power Service Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost
Multi-purpose
Cetane improver, bio-diesel compatible, alcohol free
HFRR 575, 61 micron improvement
400:1 ratio
8.32 oz/tank
$1.58/tank

12)Stanadyne Performance Formula
Multi-purpose + anti-gel
cetane improver, demulsifier, 5% bio-diesel compatible, alcohol free
HFRR 603, 33 micron improvement
480:1 ratio
6.9 oz/tank
$4.35/tank

Badum dump!

I'm gonna go with the Schaeffer's. Just need to find a way to buy it without having to buy a whole case. I use their Supreme 9000 full synthetic 5W40 diesel engine oil and I love it. Great price and works well. So might as well try their fuel additive.

You've got the Stanadyne formula's mixed up. The lubricity formula has the same micron improvement #' as the two stroke.
Just keep setting up your straw men and I'll keep knocking them down. We'll also just forget about that pesky Opti-lube that outlubes your two-stroke for half the money and also acts as a cleaner, stabilizer, and emulsifier. Whatever does it for you. I'm done wasting my time.... Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.

Wow, such drama. You know I couldn't care less about the 2 stroke, it just so happens to be an easily found, cheap and effective lubricity additive. I think my points have finally sunk in. Try some biodiesel Mikey, you might like it.

Was wondering if anyone has used these products.I've been using the cetain booster and occasionally the fuel system cleaner for well over a year now.Didn't see it on the chart, and not sure if it's beneficial.

Never even heard of it. I just started, on the tank before the one I filled yesterday, mixing half and half of Powerservice silver and Quicksilver TC-W3 two-stroke oil. Last tank I did 4 oz of Powerservice and 4 oz of TC-W3, the tank I filled yesterday I did 6 oz of each.

Gold Eagle brand has been around for years but I've never used their products.

How's the price per tank work out? I just ordered some of the Opti-Lube XPD to give that a shot.

I don't know how it is roun' 'bout Metairie, but it is hard to find what I think of as being quality diesel here in the Red Stick.

Nope..this will end with a broken high pressure pump and a bunch of small metal parts everywhere. You guys must be nuts IMO to put that crap in your CRD.

Ever seen a high pressure pump in parts? Probably not. 1 minute of bad lube and it's crying time.

After tax it was $ 6.51 for 20oz. bottle(O'Reily auto parts)
4oz. per tank =1.30 per tank

Sure can tell when it's not in there.

Specifically to which crap do you refer? And of what failure mechanism are you so certain?

Granted this is a moot question since I've sold my CRD, but...

Biodiesel is not really available anywhere around us, which is why I used the Powerservice/2-stroke mix. Now let's say I went and bought 1-2 gallons of biodiesel in my travels and brought it home, and started using that for my fuel additive blend (bio/PS). Would there be problems with the bio growing funky stuff while it sits in my basement in storage? Using it 8oz at a time, it would take some time to go through it. It might be the best way to go for mixing up additive bottles though.

If it's good, dry bio you won't have any trouble. It will last as long as diesel in a sealed container.
