I was talking to one of my buddy who happened to be a VW diesel maniac and he was telling me he used to pour a cup of atf once in a while in a full tank of diesel to keep his injectors and pump clean. Apparently it worked because he kept the car for over 300 000km. Anybody ever tried that with a CRD? Would it work without damaging anything?

NO! Use Stanadyne, or Amsoil Additive, or Diesel Kleen. Something like that. Use something designed for that task.

ATF is different these days; There are better and more targeted products if you think your injectors are dirty.
