I have a question for those that might have some experience with this. It seems the CRD in stock form is geared just a little to low for highway driving. When going a true 70mph on the highway measured via gps the speedo is reader about 73-74. And at this speed I'm turning about 2100 to 2200 rpms with 225/75r16 tires.

For those that have lifted a crd what are the RPMs with say a 245/75R16 at this same speed. Now I understand that lifting is going to affect other things that are bad for mileage such as aerodynamics but it just seems like it might not hurt to have the RPM down a little.

Also it seems that I have read that some people are went with 215/85r16 with out a lift. If this is the case would it help with mileage at all to lower the RPMs a little with a larger tire that I could fit stock?

Or is all this going to have the opposite effect and lower my mileage?

Charlie

I have p245/75 tires. I did not see a change in mpg when I lifted the Jeep. I assumed it was due to the taller tires. 2000 rpm's is about 75mph for me. I set the cruise at 68 mph(really 72mph) and the rpm's are 1925. Get between 26-30 mpg depending on the wind and season.
