I was wondering if a scan gauge II is worth the money. I want a tool to read trouble codes and clear them seeing as cali has had a low for about 11 months now law now preventing autozone from lending a diagnostic tool to read trouble codes  . I had a friend at a dealer that I could go to but they just got the axe so now I am looking for a good tool to read trouble codes seeing as dealers and mechanics charge a lot for reading trouble codes alone...and my warranty will be ending soon. Any advice and opinions welcomed.

The scan gauge is a great tool. You can get any scan tool on eBay for about $100 to do that same that a Scan Gauge would. All you need to do is make sure the tool supports the CAN BUS protocol and you'll be fine.

The only thing a SG does that a reader can not is display live data of some inputs to the ecm like coolant temp and throttle possession percentage

I can vouch for the scangauge....
Between my intake and the scangauge the intake takes my MUST DO mod... if you already have an intake then get the scangauge

Love my ScanGaugeII. It helped me increase Green's MPG 25% over EPA ratings. Love being able to clear my codes on the fly too.
