im not sure thats why im looking for input. i was going to look for some beefed up front suspension and just some hd rear springs and good shocks. probubly going to be higher in the front. and maybe do some fiberglass work on the fenders.

Check out
http://www.boulderbars.com for the suspension or read up in this section some more.

Best of luck with the fiberglass work...

I think this would be easiest w/ a 2wd so you could eliminate the front clevis and run a bypass coil-over in the front. Add in some fabricated upper and lower arms. Run some taller coils in rear w/ bypass shocks. Cut the flares to keep the tires out of them and run like a 235/85-16, tall skinny tire; air lock the rear and go see how fast you can go in the whoops.

on a 4wd it would be tough to get it to work well w/ the stock configuration and clevis setup. maye you could get some of the look, but making it truly functional would be a challenge.

honestly im going for the look rite now. and ever since the front driveshaft took a sh** i have been thinking about just going with the 2wd setup and a really sick suspention setup. i meen im in new jersey there isnt that much wheelin out here that the lib cant do in 2wd. and the fact that i will be in arizona in february for 3 months going to school for Cummins diesel makes me want to do the prerunner setup also. just looking for somthing diffrent that stands out you know.

Losing the front DS but keeping the transfer case will also allow you 2LO to the rear wheels........ hmmm..... Also, by being 2wd, you can use lower gears in the rear diff. 4.56's are available for the rear where they are not for the front D30a. Could be a fun experiment that could always be put back to 4wd in the future if you don't chop up the front too much for custom suspension.

Cummins is, in my opinion, the best diesel engine money can buy. My 92, full size 250 w 8ft bed and canopy, has 300,000 miles and is still going strong. I get between 18-20 mpg. Could you imagine one in a KJ. You would probably get 30 mpg with at least twice as much power. I've seen guys drop them into Wranglers, so you could be the first to put one in a KJ. You would be my hero!

Have fun with trying to fit a 4BT in a KJ that weights 400lbs more then the 3.7 V-6,great engine for a 1/2ton pickup though.
