The Black Rock wheels look sweet in my opinion. The problem is they are nonexistent!

i ordered a set of four Series 975's on May 15th through Quadratec. After being given several different anticipated shipping dates and not receiving them i again spoke to a Quadratec rep today to learn that they have not received any shipment from Cragar. "Hang on" sez me, "i ordered Black Rocks not Cragars". "Well" sez he "Cragar makes Black Rock".

So he begins to check inventory to see if there's another Black Rock series they have in stock that he can ship to me instead (since i need them for Ouray). Turns out they don't have any Black Rock series in stock! NONE! ! ! They haven't received any Black Rock rims period! So i sez "So . . . you're basically selling a product that's not even in production" and he sez "we're going to have to remove the Black Rock series".

BTW, i have also spoken to Black Rock reps (apparently Cragar in disguise) who gave some song and dance about waiting on a certain part needed to make that series.

So in the end i had to go w/the Crager soft 8's, which is fine but i really liked the look of the matte black rims w/black center caps. i'm just baffled by anyone who would market a product they can't produce.

Curious, anyone else purchased and actually received a set of Black Rocks :?:

Its happening all over the wheel market, wheels are not selling and so manufacturing are not producing. Further more quite a few major wheel manufacturers have gone Bankrupt and closed shop

when JL introduced home subwoofers at CEDIA 2004 orders were taken but the product didn't ship until late 2006.

Yep, get, or make your own. Or even do a little modding to be different.

Yeah, already planning to paint the center caps. Maybe paint some pink hearts between the holes too.

Okay seriously . . . no hearts. But i am playing w/the idea of painting the rims a matte black myself. Just not sure how well the paint would hold up over the years and i really don't want to end up w/rims that look getto fabulous.

What sucks about this is that since Cragar owns Black Rock in the end they still get my money. Actually, they get more of it since the soft 8's with center caps are more than the Black Rocks that had the center caps included.

I think Black Rocks are also Alloy wheels, not steel like the Cragars. They also advertise they are Made in the USA. But my Cragars are also stamped, Made in the USA. I don't know if they (Cragar) recently went offshore or something..... if so, that would suck!

Unique Steel owns Crager and Crager owns Black Rock, all are made by Unique Steel wheels. So regardless of you you wright the check for Unique Steel gets the money, even if you buy ProComp steel rims also(made by Unique Steel).

So basically save yourself some money and go to a Discount tire and get Unique Steel rims for way less then what they would cost if they were stamped with "Crager".

Okay just wanted to update as today ended differently and i don't want to contribute to misinformation about anyone's business here, or anywhere for that matter.

E-mailed rep at BR today who stated emphatically that my rims were shipped out and received by Quadratec on June 17th. He confirmed rim series as well as specifications.

Called Quadratec, demanded to speak to a manager and, when i finally did, told him what the BR rep had just confirmed (sent him a copy of the e-mail too). Quadratec manager then confirms that they did in fact have the rims in stock but not in the backspacing i ordered (i ordered 4", they had 4.25"). i told the manager that his rep i spoke to yesterday informed me they didn't have and hadn't received ANY rims from BR! He apologized and is shipping the rims (4.25" bs) tomorrow minus the shipping cost. i didn't want to roll the dice and wait for 4" bs after all this trouble. Quarter inch will not make-or-break.

BTW, Quadratec has 19 sets of the 975 series, 15", 5 on 4.5, 4.25" backspacing in stock (according to the manager).
