Is there a way to take out the rear seat butt cusions so that when you fold down the seats the rear deck is MORE flat than it is now? I find my self sleeping back there and I wish it were more flat.

Thanks.

Do you ever need the rear seat for passengers? If not, make a flat floor as others have done. I don't think you can remove the cushions seperate from the rest of the seat but maybe someone that has had it out will know for sure?

Oh my gawd you have no idea how much thats bothered me over the last couple of years.

I too sleep in the back of the KJ with great frequency, I have also found that the plastic covers over the child seat retainers are quite uncomfortable.

Best advice, get a thick foam pad and remove the child seat things.

I can't wait untill I get my CRD truck up and going, going to have soooooo much room to sleep in the longbed!

x2. Don't waste time trying to modify the nigh unmodifiable seats, just build a modular platform that buffers the effect of the seats which don't fold flat. Call it done.

It isn't just about fixing to sleep in it, but to get some big items in there.

I'd like to hear from anyone also that has taken out the seat area and if a mod has been done. I doubt it since it has a fixed swivel type of framework.

The rear seats don't fold flat because the seat backs have a lot of cushion to make them more comfortable for passengers. I took my rear seat right out and built a bed and cargo area. I have built 2 levels. 1 level is for cargo and the top level is for sleeping. The passenger seat reclines down and the top level extends out past the passenger seat so that I have 78" of length to sleep on. I am still working the bugs out of the system and once I am satisfied with it I will post some pictures for others to see.

Is it possible to take out just one side of the back seat?

I wonder if a quick disconnect of the rear seat or back cushions (not the frame) could be created so when you need to fold flat, you just unvelcro the cushions or use quick disconnect aircraft rivets and drop the frame down flat.
