Their reply

Nate, to answer your question, it is PCM, And yes I can disable the torq managment in the PCM, so yes it will make more power and torque.. You can piggy back your jet chip, but I do not recomend because I am modifying the tables within the pcm to optmize, the jet chip just modifies voltages to try and trick the PCM, but it will learn around the chip after ahwile..

yep it sure will, your whole powertrain warranty will be voided along with federal emission warranty covering the PCM/TCM.

i could understand why poertrain would be voided... but it is a chip... can't it be removed before i go into the shop just like the jet chip?... why would it mess with fuel emissions? i understand it changes the timing of when to shift and takes off the computer limiting torque regulator... what am i missing?

It's not just a chip. It is a full PCM replacement

Good to know...

Yes this will complety remap for your fuel and timing trim levels...

as they do ship you a new PCM, I think you can swap in your old one.

But I am not sure if that gets recorded in another computer or not.
ODBII is getting very intence these days...

Also if you read there web site, they make it clear this is for off road use.
this is not for street machines. this is the cover there butts...

I still like it..

I just can not wait to see a 2008 KK with one on a Dynow before and after.
then see how the gas milage is after words..

my mileage is slightly up 1-2 mpg on the highway on 200mi trips etc, and it's down 2-3mpg city but that is my foot not the pcm, i haven't kept my foot out of it long enough to really find out what it is in the city

before the pcm i was getting ~19-21 highway, after the pcm i was getting 20-23 highway and after the lift im getting 18-21 highway

so it's atleast in the same ballpark, you aren't going to go from 20 to 35 mpg and you aren't going to go from 20 to 10 mpg either

for the first few tanks of gas your right foot is where your gas is going ;)

well, you don't have to send in your stock PCM as stock pcm's new are like 50 bucks (might want to check that figure for the KK's anyway)

Should you HAVE A PROBLEM with any electrical or driveline system prior to warranty repairs put the stock one back on, it's about a 15 minute R&R

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you won't have any problems after getting the B&G, it allows increased torque through to your drivetrain

But, on the other hand, as small of an increase as it is (it's not like you're dropping a CRD engine in) if you do have mechanical problems you probably would have had them anyway

With a 45RFE i felt very safe in doing the modification. If you have a straight drive you shouldn't have to think twice. The 42RLE sometimes has problems even under stock configuration (not that the 45RFE doesn't)

I have noticed that my shifts are quicker and snappier and it seems to engage the gears quicker, however i wouldn't say that it's a hard shift. It's actually designed to correct the 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th hard shifts that the stock PCM had. Those thumping shifts to OD gears are gone - which i always felt like those shifts were wrong and they now feel more.. i guess you could say Assertive without being harsh and where the non-od gear shifts seemed soft, they're not assertive instead of actually having the slight feeling that the transmission is actually SLIPPING which I hated

I personally feel like the B&G isn't a modification per-se.. more like the correct PCM for the vehicle.

The stock PCM was a weenie

but at the same time I don't want to push something (actually I don't want to push it at all, which is why I never mentioned it except to a few people when I got it) I'm actually more interested in knowing if you feel like your transmission, in particular, does not behave like you'd actually expect it to

specifically with spongy non-od shifts and hard od shifts

the behavior that i've experienced with mine, was as if the new PCM flattened the transmissions sensations , put some of the harshness of the od shifts into the non-od section (how it does that i dont know)

but the shift sensations are much more even and the non od shifts are very assertive, i've actually chirpped second gear shifting from 1st to 2nd manually with a little skinny pedal finesse

yeah i really dont want to void the warrenty... but i can agree on the shifting... on my automatic 4x4 command trac i feel some hesitation with the shifts... its unlike my older 96 jeep cherokee sport... i kno the engine is differen,t but it still does not feel right... so buying this unit gives you a completely new pcm?... and if i had to bring it in i could swap in the original... but the question is would the dealer know i had in a different unit/ would swapping the pcms *&^^&* up the rest of the car just becuase of the different voltages and different timing etc?

electrically (voltage wise) it is less of a hazard to your system than a Jet chip

it does it's magic through an actual reprogrammed PCM - your stock PCM has one set of programs to do it's functions basically, in crude terms, for torque management it's got a sort of table with a bunch of numbers in it that causes certain things to occur such as retarding the timing, richening the fuel mixture, in order to choke the engines torque down to what it thinks is acceptable levels

the new pcm, has a different table and a different set of limits including different rev limit, different max overspeed limit things like that

where one system (jet) changes voltages on certain doodas, the reflashed pcm actually has programming that changes the behavior, and it's something that the computer can't learn to compensate for like it does with the jet chip, because the module which is doing the changing is the same module which is doing the learning

can they tell that you've had one in there?

maybe..

if you were to put the stock one back in? i'd imagine that numbers somewhere might be off.. and of course if they asked you about it you'd play stupid

any discrepancy computer wise would probably be seen as the 'stock' pcm being bad, and they'ed replace it, and then find that that wasn't the problem and then fix whatever WAS the problem

and when ya got home you'd put your b&g back in

under warranty a 50 dollar pcm isn't a big deal .. i mean it's under warranty ;)

The PCM for a '02 KJ is way more then $50,more like about $353 for the cheapest new PCM then you need a dealership program your VIN into it which cost more $$$$.The PCM for a '08 KK is about $213,and again a dealership will need to program the VIN.

I was going to say it better be more then $50 ... I just bought an 08 KK PCM off eBay for $150.
