Picked up a Ramsey REP 9000 new in the box locally for $500, I thought that was a great price. Now I just need the Backbone to arrive, and I can move forward on the custom bumper/brushguard. Never fear, plenty of pictures will be posted when available.

FWIW- I believe those Backbones are predesigned for the older 02-04 stock front bumper style. It will fit a 05-07 but lots of plastic needs to be cut off- The manufacturer says it will fit but your upcoming pics will show how extensive plastic cutting will be.

This is why I have held back on a Detours cause I have an 06--

Please do not be discouraged and go ahead if you want-- just my 2 cents and-- good luck!

Roland

BTW read your bio-- Retreads from treadwright will be my next choice for tires as they are inexpensive and look good and others with them have reported excellent reviews

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread---

Here is the Treadwright transformation, I love the way they feel driving. No complaints, just spun 3000 miles on them and did my first rotation.

With the 05+ bumpers you cut a hole in the bumper and slide it over the backbone. You actually cut less plastic and it is cleaner look than the older bumpers. I've had mine on over a year without a winch and it doesn't look funny. I thought it might but I have the sport bumper and a black grille so it blends really well.

Good luck on the custom bumper I cant wait to see pictures.

I'm mounting the backbone for a truly solid winch/recovery point, then fabricating a nice pre-runner style bumper to go around it. I wanted a legit starting point for the winch, since I don't want to tweak the unibody. Should be very simple to finish off, no plastic bumper trimming required because it is all coming off...

That is good that you are starting from a solid foundation!

90 shipped sounds right, I got 5 and that inlcluded extra 9 per tire for the Ultra Grip, I think they were on sale. I won't buy anything else ever again, unless of course they update their patterns to the new MT-R...

Really, it's only the depth of the plastic bumper which changed, the ammount of cutting is about equal for all years.

I'm looking forward to what AltE designs for himself as well, as far as Treadrights.....I've used them and would
use them again.

As Mark says, there really isn't much difference on cutting the bumper on the 05-07's. I went with the Backbone because I wanted a proven winch mount to build my tube bumper/brushguard/stinger around. Detours is a stand-up outfit, very accomodating with my questions, ordering, discounts, etc. Can't wait to get the backbone on so I can finalize measurements and start bending pipe...
