The old ones always kick butt in our trucks. with old ones, they will out pull any thing @1400 rpm. The new engines dies at around 18

When I first got to the Dayton location one of the locos had such a bad water leak we had to change 5 head gaskets, each head weighs about 150lb, and the other one we had to change out all 12 injectors, there was diesel in the oil from the crews letting it idle too long

the only good thing about the diesel in the oil is that it cleaned the hell out of the block and valves, looked brand new!

Thats crazy I would have never thought that the lights were 72v and the instrument panel was 32... why not make it 24 across the board? what are the starters wired for?

well, the started is 480 volt also, it is actually a aux. gen to turn the crank shaft, which is why it needs all those batts to start. if the bats die you can jump it with another loco using welding cables or an arc welder
