My lightbar was working just fine the other night until I turned the engine off. Went to restart and tried to turn on the lightbar...nothing. The light on the dash comes on, but no outside lights. Checked the fuse and it was fine. Anybody have this problem or have any ideas? Maybe the relay? :? :?:

Most-likely, the back fell off the switch; these switches tend to do that. Pull the switch and have a look.

Looked at the switch and it was fine. The light on the switch comes on and so does the indicator light but no outside. Maybe its a loose connection in the bar itself, like kskj said. I guess I'll take it apart tomorrow. Thanx guys!

OK, I took the bar apart and everything seemed fine. So I think it's the switch. Does anybody know how much they cost?

You don't need to buy a new one. Just fix what's wrong with that one. A DMM is a lot better for trouble shooting electrical problems than "looking" at stuff too. But if you look closely, I think you'll find that the back of the switch is not completely connected to the front. It happens to mine all the time.

I'm pretty sure it's connected. I took the switch completely apart, blew on all the connections, reconnected it, no outside lights. The light on the actual switch comes on with the headlights and the indicator light on the dash comes on. The reason I think its the switch, is that it worked fine with absolutely no problems, then all of a sudden, nothing. If something was loose, it probably would've flickered on the trail before I turned the engine off.

I'm not really sure what DMM is, but I think your talking about the electrical tester that lights up when it's hot? If so, how would I test/fix it?

Have you checked the relay? The switch sends the power to a relay to power the lightbar, bad relay and no lights but the switch and dash light may still work.

Do you know where the relay is?

I had to replace my relay last week.

On my '04 it was right by the brake fluid resevoir. Black, about
1 1/2" cube at the end of a wire harness. Just unplugs. Check the
inside for rust first. You may be able to clean the contacts. If not,
I got a new one at my dealer for about $8.00.

Good luck.

Ok, I think I found the relay. There's four of those cubes. Not sure which one it is. So my next question is: do you know which on its is, and if so, how do I check it? If the whole relay went out it would seem to me that other things wouldn't be working? Thanx for your help! :D

The part number of the relay was #4727370AA.
Not sure if that number is stenciled onto the relay or not.
Clean the connectors in the socket and seal it up with dielectic grease.

Ok thanks, I'll try that. I'm pretty sure its the switch though. I used an electrical tester on the back of the switch. Two wires are always hot when the engine is running. When I turn the dash lights on, another wire is hot. Then when I switch the trail lights on, no other wires turn hot. This tells me that its not sending the "on" signal to the lights. What do you guys think? Oh and also I switched around all my relays and nothing changed.
