The head on my lower clevis bolt has shorn off... I just had it in the shop, they were supposed to be putting on my new frankenlift, and then they realized that the bolt was busted and that I'd need a new one...

So I have two questions:

1.) Anyone know the part # for the lower clevis bolt? it's driver's side if that matters..

2.) Does that sound like something that could just happen trail riding? or does it sound like they broke it while trying to take it off?

lol.. thanks!

yeah it was pretty shiny still, thats why I thought they might have broken it off.

I ordered the replacement bolt from jeep... $45 for the bolt, $15 for the nut, and $5 for the washer.. LOL this better be an amazing bolt :P

if it's salt welded in, is it going to be possible to remove it? or am I kinda hosed?

WHAT?! 65 bucks for a bolt nut and washer? I need to start selling these things!

did they get either end of it out of the clevis? I would use a lot of liquid wrench..

Try a grade 8 9/16 bolt. NAPA has them for a couple bucks.

I bought that same bolt from the dealer, it wasn't $45. More like $12.

The stupid guys that fixed my jeep after my accident used locktite on it. :x

the expensive bolt the jeep guy sold me ended up being a cam bolt... *sigh*

long story short, my actual clevises (clevisies?) were broken (both of them).. like the metal was cracked. Thats what caused the struts to bend.. had to replace both clevis assemblies.

Wow you broke both clevis assemblies? What do you do with that thing drive it off ramps and see how far she'll fly? :D :D (Sarcasm)

I actually kinda wondered about that myself but I've never heard of much problems with them. That sucks, but I wouldn't go back to whoever you bought that bolt from for the new clevis assembly.
