that was awesome! he must of had that thing sealed good.

Idk why those guys felt the need to crawl all over it while he was driving around in the water though. Kinda a stupid idea. :?

They were trying to add weight to bring the wheels to the ground, he was floating.

Did anyone really look at the vehicle and read the comments? It's not really a Jeep, it's a knock off made in Brazil called a Troller. It looked to me like he was trying to just ride the edge of the pond but got a little to off-camber in one spot and started to float away.

Bringing this thread back again.

It seems that Willys sold rights to the company in Brazil to make Jeeps. I don't know but maybe part of the deal was to call it something else. At any rate in 2008 Ford Motor Company bought a controlling interest in that company. They invested millions into the production facilities to increase quality and production of the Troller T4 and the military version called Troller T4m. They have now built another plant somewhere in Africa if I remember right. At this time the Troller T4 has 28% of the market in Brazil. I thought it looked like a pretty good trail ride. Plus it does have a direct link to Jeep.

I emailed FoMoCo asking if there were any plans at this time to market the Troller T4 here in the USA. Listed below is their answer.

Dear Terry McGee,

Thank you for contacting the Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center regarding the production of the Ford Troller T4 in the United States.

We sincerely thank you for your interest in Ford Motor Company-related information.

There are no details at this time reflecting plans to put this model into commercial production in the United States. From time to time, vehicle models are added, deleted or modified. Decisions to make these changes take into account factors such as market trends, customer demands, engineering advances, and dealership input. The Customer Relationship Center is unaware in advance of changes that our Engineering and Design Team may be making and the specific reasons that the changes may be made in the future.

For more information on our current vehicle models, please visit:

We appreciate and thank you for taking the time to write us.

Sometimes e-mail communication does not allow us to gain additional information that may be helpful in responding to your inquiry. Should you feel that we have not adequately addressed your questions, please feel free to contact us via telephone at (800)392-3673 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, local time, Monday through Friday. Hearing-impaired callers with access to a TDD may contact 1-800-232-5952.

Sincerely,
Alji
Customer Relationship Center
Ford Motor Company

At least now we know for sure who owns the company.

Terry

That's when you need a sunroof!

And yes stupid to try that!
Even if I thought that I had everything sealed, I still would not try that!

If they did that on purpose it would be stupid. But, I don't think they intended to go out in the water like that. I would take the T4m in a heart beat! Lift that sucker a little and wheel the crap out of it.

Actually I'm not impressed with either of the videos. I wouldn't do that with anything. But the T4m to me looks pretty good. I would have to look it over real well first but I wouldn't mind getting one if Ford offered it here.

Some info. I have found:

It has standard 4WD, a 5-speed Clark manual transmission and Dana axles. The engine is a 3.0 L turbo Diesel built by MWM and was introduced in 2004.

That is a NICE looking vehicle!! If they do it in long-wheelbase as well, that might be a good competitor over here to Land Rover! :D

I'm not a fan of deep water, I've driven my Libby and my YJ through some deep stuff but never that deep
I'm surprised how not watertight my Libby is.

Myself I prefer to leave the doors off and sink to the bottom rather than float away. There's another infamous YouTube video where a TJ was crossing a strong flowing river and was swept downstream.

Earlier this summer I watched a buddy of mine get his YJ stuck in deep water right up to his chest. His snorkel kept the water out of the air cleaner but not the distributor. The YJ ran for about three minutes before it stalled, before we could get it out  Once out of the water we discovered water everywhere, in the cylinders, crankcase and even in the gauges
All wasn't lost though. Once we flushed all of the water out of the cylinders & distributor and changed the crankcase oil the engine fired up fired up. You simply can't kill those 4.0L inline six engines.
Of course the CD player & CB radio didn't survive and the wipers wouldn't turn off :?

And lastly, my favorite Libby YouTube video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjs-gDzKoPc&feature=related

be sure to watch it to the very end now :)
