The DTT is killer when installed in the front diff of a KJ.I had one installed in the front of my KJ and in the winter it would pull me anywhere I wanted to go.

Someone mentioned here before the mustang that ended up in the ditch because of a locker. I can testify (Jeep Cherokee) with my dad that in snow if you start to spin usually one tire or the other (in the mountains especially) the locker will allow you to keep the vehicle moving. Plus in snow (especially as deep as where you are) the vehicle creates ruts with the front tires that the rear will generally follow.

The problem is, however, on ice with nothing to stop a tire slip, the vehicle would have a very easy time losing traction. Unless one tire has good traction when one slips (there locked) both slip, if there's any incline (every highway has a small incline to drain water) the vehicle will slide that way. That Cherokee is no more because of that, down the highway at only 45 in the winter in 4x4 with the rear locked.... hit a spot of ice under the snow and three rolls later a pile of metal. That jeep went straight sideways on the highway before I had any clue what was going on, then the tires found traction somewhere (sideways) and well the rest is obvious. For that reason I'm either gonna do a Limited Slip in the rear, or wait and just do the ARB's.

that particular incident sounds more characteristic of the tires than the vehicle but then again I wasn't there

glad ya still here to tell about it though

i don't remember what the tires were, but I do know my dad had a set of cooper M/T's he ran...sipped and studded. Either that or at least an A/T we don't run anything less here, (at least not in my family.) The wreck wasn't all that bad, both of us just got out and said (Insert expletive here.) But the jeep wasn't really beefed up, and he upgraded to a newer Chevy half ton anyway.
