After driving almost an hour, my ETC light will occasionally go on and flash. At restart, it stays off. This has been going on for a few weeks now. There is no loss of power that I can detect.

Anyone have an idea of what I am looking at here? I don’t want to jump to any conclusions and have is diagnosed to find out it is a simple fix/adjustment/cleaning. Thanks.

You know I did get on the pedal a little bit this morning trying to avoid a kamikaze commuter here in Atlanta. I never linked the two events together. I guess I will see what happens with it.

Anyone else have this same reaction to a good pedal "stompin"?

I think the ETC problems trace back to wheel sensors, or the rear diff sensor -
you might want to trace wires and look for kinks or damage - an intermittent ground problem.

ETC light is most commonly triggered by "two-foot" driving. No problem. Just shut down, restart and the light should go out.

Oh, you're supposed to use your foot? That makes more sense now. I should be able to see better now too!

Ironically, tha's the way I drive. I will have to change that habit. Thanks for the advice.

Not really. The GDE tune eliminates that aggravation

Your signature indicates a 2005. I thought traction control wasn't available until 2006 model year.

Electronic Throttle Control vs ESP for electronic traction control - ESP supposedly was an option on '05 Limiteds

Ok, I've never seen the ETC light come on. I'll pay more attention when I start the tractor up to head home tonight.

i know what this means, your engine is about to cease, quickly get an oil change. The oil light and engine light was showing on my jeeps dash board, and jeep ignored it, they cleared the codes several times, even installed an upgrade patch, based on a bulletin report, explaining that it wasn't anything to worry about. Let me tell you, they failed to check my engine. Now i have to rebuild my engine from scratch...

Well - if you took it to the dealer and they said ignore it -
they should be rebuilding the engine for you - or giving you a new one.

however an oil change probably wouldn't have mattered - dirty oil makes things wear out faster
but to kill an engine in it tracks normally takes no oil -
which means the level was too low. or a line was blocked, or the pump died.
all of which would have triggered a red oil light.

(Welcome to LOST - although not a great start for your KJ)
