Need a sheet of aluminum/ road sign etc 46" X 52"

I need a sheet of aluminum either flat or tread plate even, could be a large road sign but has to be at least 46X52 inches

can be new/used anything as long as its flat and not all bent up or holes in it!

Anyone know where I can purchase such a thing? Tried the dealers up around here and they have smaller scraps but nothing the size I need

They should have everything you need, won't be cheap like a used (swiped) street sign though.

They are who we buy from here in muncie. You should be able to buy 48x96 sheets in 0.060", 0.090", 1/8, 0.190, 1/4, 5/16, etc etc up to several inches thick or down to maybe 0.030".

A 1/4" 36x96 plate costs about $300. You should be able to extrapolate what your cost should be for a different size from that by comparing volume (roughly). Or just call and ask.

This is the type of place where you call and give them a purchase order, etc. You don't just walk in (at least I don't...). Call em and tell them what you want and you should have it within a day or two. Same goes for basically any other commercially available material, shape, etc.

You making something for the jeep? If you're planning on forming the plate, let me know how you're going to work the material and I'll help you pick an alloy. Last thing you want to do is go buy an expensive plate and then break it...

just need a flat sheet , working on a trailer idea, this will be the top cover with it hinged to one side, will have a rack over top of it but not attached to it, RTT ( roof top tent) will go on the rack, the lid will just be for easier access to the fridge/freezer, chairs, awning, table etc.

Well, if you're ok with say 0.090" thick, it would probably only run about $100. 1/8" would be $125-150. Aluminum extrusions are fairly cheap, unfortunately sheet and plate are not.

Being how big you need it, you'll definitely have trouble finding a "scrap" thats new, considering its 3/4 of a standard sheet.

I know it maybe hard but one place here ( a recycling place) just sold 6 4'x8' sheets of tread plate for 40 each ! I was 23 hours late! :evil:
