Just thought I'd let everyone know where we're at with our little upstart Jeep Liberty fabrication company. We're working on a website. Hopefully we'll get something minimal up soon but we're not web designers, and we're at the mercy of others.

Our main projects at the moment include:

--1/4" aluminum gas tank skid due out in about 14 days. We're doing a dress rehearsal with a steel one this weekend.
--1/4" thick aluminum full belly skid (smoothing out from crossmember to rear shackles. Due out in about 14 days.
--Custom tucked magnaflow exhaust system to improve clearance for our belly skid and sound great. Building prototype and pattern on Friday.
--1/4" thick aluminum "boatside" rocker guards that will blend into our belly skid as well as stand alone. Hoping to have these done in 4-6 weeks.
--Tranny skid & rear bumper coming directly thereafter.

All of these items are going to fit '05 gassers and anything that matches them. I've started fitting some of the parts to other jeeps but plan to do the rest soon and make adjustments as needed.

Most prices will be similar to our competition. Considering how expensive 1/4 aluminum plate is, we'll be tough to beat. Our goal is to produce the strongest, lightest products available at a great price.

More to come soon! :D

Is there any chance these parts will also be developed to fit pre 05 KJs?

1/4" steel is marginal for a belly skid.

That's the no longer manufactured SuperSkid and tjkj said he's seen them bent.
the Skid Row is 3/16" steel and there are pictures floating around with it bent enough to dent the tranny pan.

and I know the factory tranny skid will bent enough to dent the tranny pan
- because I've done that - and it wasn't hard but it's thinner.

My 1/4" steel skid is bent right now

But I'm guessing 90% of KJ owners won't do what it took me to bend it   (Those that were in Ouray witnessed the spectacle  )

I'm really interested to see how these come out... especially the rockers... for the wheeling that most people do these should be more than sufficient

1/4 plate is very strong. Can you dent it? of course. You could dent 1/2 if you really wanted to.

I should have mentioned that we're also offering the belly skid, rocker plate, and transmission skid in steel & Garolite G10/FR4.

I'm building them to be a bolt in frame with bolt on removable plates. Technically you could bolt 1" thick plywood under there if you wanted. So, if it's not strong enough for you, fork over the cash, get some new springs, and we'll have 3/4" steel HSLA plate waterjetted for yours. :D

Finally, the skids nobody can argue are too weak! As strong as you can afford

So sliding down over limestone, or any type of rocks, tell me how aluminum is better than steel,
in real people words!

Also for me I don't give a rats butt about weight, but from some aluminum ones I have seen in the past they gouged out real easy going over even sandstone.

Let the lesson begin

I've been in the hunt for an aftermarket tranny skid, but none impressed me enough to pull the trigger.
Can't wait to see what you come up with. What's garolite? Is it that hard plastic stuff?

Will these things work with the CRD?

He'll probably need a CRD to test

on All-J's superskid they ended with 2 models and the 02-04 plate fit the CRD not the 05+ plate.

(and there's not much room for the oil filter - a remote would be a good idea)

Sorry, I've been watching a movie :)

Garolite is an fiberglass epoxy resin "phenolic" (plastic) that is stronger than many steel and aluminum plates and about 30% lighter than aluminum. In it's thinner forms, its used for PC boards. It's tough stuff.

http://www.jjorly.com/g10_fr4_sheet_material_price.htm

As for model we're building for: We intend to build products for all years and include CRD's. I do need to find someone with a CRD to work with however. We're making mine and planning to adapt them accordingly.

Tom: Steel has its advantages, and aluminum has its advantages. Steel will resist scratching better, though anodizing the plates should take care of a lot of that. The anodized layer is very hard. The advantage to the lower weight is that you can make the items much thicker and stronger.

Like I said, if you're stuck in the "steel is better" frame of mind, we'll be happy to supply it.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that we're still here, we're working on some really cool new stuff. I'll try to update every week or two. Pictures of anything will be a couple weeks out. I do have some CAD though...

Yeah, I've got a bent AllJ SuperSkid.
My first skid was a Skid Row and it was done for after my first trip to Moab.
