back in 02 was looking for info on the web on the KJ.. saw a few forums including JU which i still have bookmarked but never visit..after test driving in 02 a limited.. then in 03 i test drove a sport.. then on 03 after reading and saving information.. finally joined L.O.S.T. to get some questions answered that nobody would answer while i was debating on what to order.. then in 04 test drove and ordered the 04 renegade.. so been around for awhile..

I am fairly new to the board but I have a question to you originals...I read somewhere that LOST was started as a joke to the other Jeepers...is that true? Who besides Darby had a hand in starting it?

I remember seeing it as a spoof on the internet in the old days. The way the KJ was being poked fun at really bummed me out for quite some time so I just forgot about getting a Jeep and faded away until this year.

My wife dug out pictures last week of her and I attending a Jeep101 event here in Indianapolis that premiered the new for 2002 KJ. I had totally forgotten I had "pre-exposure" to the KJ before just buying my 2005 CRD.

Pretty cool how things come full circle. I'm glad I have my KJ and I'm glad this club made it beyond the original joke status...

I do rememeber several of us from the old board, one inpeticular (sp) was XR. I wheeled with him several times, and he thought his KJ was one of his dirt bikes. Boy did that KJ take a lot of poundong, before it broke. If I remember correctly, he bent it.

I joined sometime in late 2001 or early 2002, I purchased my KJ in Oct. 2001. This is a story into itself, so I will not bore you with it. My original number was 283, chevy small block I always thought, or was it 287, oh well a mind is like a steel trap these days, old and rusty and illegal in the lower 48.

Memories........

Al

That was Mike, and his user ID was the date he joined JU. He sticks with the Land Cruiser crowd now and swears he will never ever own a Jeep as he got screwed royally on a ball joint failure. The usual, you lifted and took this off-road, so the warranty is voided crap DCX stealerships use to throw around their weight.

Went to Moab last year... but I've been lurking since the JU days, and yes I remember Dillinger.

My little KJ is "pre-lowered" having been bought in Sept 2001.

I'm looking forward to Moab this year and hope to spend more than three days this year.

I've been a member since late 2002. I started as BlackJeepLiberty and changed to RedJeepCRD on the new board because I traded my 02 for an 05 CRD.

I came over from JU. Long time lurker. If I lived on the mainland I would enjoy the adventures with the LOST members. Being on an island we just get to drive in circles.
Aloha

You know to me...the coolest part about all this is ... we all had the same interest and yes many of us started out on JU but went our own direction a long time ago and now we have really made a very nice home here at this site. The LOST group keeps getting better and better and it is for one resaon... The people...

I know it has been so cool meeting some of the members at different locations like Moab and AZ. last year we had over 40 Jeeps that made the Moab run. Many guys were from all over the place...Dang...Steve drove all the way from Florida and Steve and Gail were just just some of the coolest folks we have ever meet.

Again...I have really enjoyed all the folks we see posting on the forum today and in the past but it really makes it special when we are able to meet with them and do a run together. This even means the guys that just join the LOST group in the last couple of days.
Later...Clint

At Moab I'm pretty sure we had people out from literally all four corners of the mainland US...

I drove from Seattle ( maybe Seth will join me ), we had some people from upstate NY, SoCal and florida.

Moab is the best 18 hour drive I could ever do.
