I might just do that when I get around to doing it. My bro-in-law is going to help me because he knows how to remove the bumper cover and all that good stuff, I know there has been a write up for that, but still he knows what he is doing and I'm sure I would F it up myself

I took these photos in the rain, but you get the picture. If you have the Mopar moulded mud guards then you have to order the nerf bars with two sets of rear brackets to get the proper clearance at the mud flap. Overall I'm pleased with them and it allows my 5 year old to get in and out of the Jeep by himself.

IIRC, you ordered the KJ set, right?

With the number of people adding tow hooks (I know I will be some day), I'm surprised there hasn't been a write-up put into the Tech section yet (not that it's too difficult, I would imagine).

-SR-

I know for the KJ, I was under the impression that you had to take off the bumper to install the tow hooks. And that sounded like no fun. Until I actually got them and looked at it. Took about 5 minutes to put them on, bumper didn't need to come off. Now for the KK, it could be a different story.

Forgot to mention my jeep goes in for the 3 time for the noise i still hear even tho they say they fixed it twice and now the tranny has a new problem i go to get on the highway and when i let off the gas it downshifts and the whole front end bounces.
i called the lemon law attorney so this should get interesting if they dont fix these problems.

speaking of washing it though - after I was out last weekend, my engine bay is quite dirty, a nice layer of muck on everything..... any recomendations?

I was planning on just pulling into the alley and spraying my garden hose in there on a gentler setting & trying to stay away from electronics... is there a decent way to clear the heat liner on the hood?

1 - Pull out the heat liner, it will just collect mud and water and then have it drip all over the engine.
2 - For washing it ... If the mud has dried on their it's going to be a PITA to get off. You can spray the engine down with a good burst of water but you are going to have to put some elbow grease into it to get the mud off. I've used car soap and a sponge to get most of the mud off. The main thing is that when you do this park the truck in the sun so that when your done you can leave it to dry for a while. If you have an open air filter wrap a shopping bag around it and tape it off so it doesn't get wet. Other then that you can get everything else wet.

I did my first interior mod. Took about 12 hours and $50.
As you know my mods are usually 1 shot deals. Too much work involved for mass production.

I got tired of not being able to see my cups. So I decided to illuminate the holders.
I got some Plexiglas, routed recesses into it, sanded front and back to make it translucent, heated it up and formed it around a pipe. I then cut individual rings to go around the cup holders with the inserts fitted in to the holes I cut for them. I used 2-12" long LED strips and attached them just below the Plexi so it would glow. I tapped into the "4WD switch" light wire, so they can be dimmed with the dash lights.
I only used the 2 medium strips, the rest was for support while heating and bending.
Here are a few Pics. The cell phone really doesn't do it justice.

Pulling that heat liner won't do anything to my paint on the hood?

Seems to me the engine runs rather hot and it'd be good to keep on there.....

You'll be fine. I've pulled them off everyone of my cars. Just think about all the cars that run around with fiberglass hoods and carbon fiber hoods. They don't have a liner on thoes and I've never heard of anyone having issues with them. I had a fiberglass hood on my last show car and never had any issues with the paint.

I actually pulled off my own heat liner today. Just curious about the winter though.. Wonder if anything will change? I mean, there's got to be a reason the mfr installs these in the first place?
