Has anyone attempted to create an air intake directly above the TB on the 3.7?
It looks like a prime location for some sort of scoop or something...
Just wondering about this stuff while I sit here bored out of my skull.
6 months of unemployment will do that to you.

hood scoop on an imprezza is directly into the air intake and the intake scoop directs it to the air box, the jeep would have to get something modded up for that and there is not a lot of room in that engine bay :/

that's an intercooler on an imprezza (wrx/sti)... cools air for the turbo.

the only problem with cutting a hole in the hood for an intake is that all the engine heat would still be there.. and there wouldnt be any type of air flow pattern.

I wasen't talking about the hole system, I was talking about the scoop its self.
Its at right about the same spot the TB on the libby is. If you rig up the airbox on the tb and have the filter and such there, it could work,
And you could rig up the scoop and then on the side of it have some louvers to release the heat from the compartment.

I agree.
I'm not talking about heat removal. The heat is there now and all the airbox mods I've seen so far do nothing about that.

I'm talking about some type of air intake directly above the TB.

An airbox box mod is required of course. I'd hate to see some type of big hood scoop...nothing like a pro stock. Maybe something on the order of the old Ford Mustang Shaker scoop. Or maybe a simple bulge in the hood like an old Chevelle SS...how bout a pop up scoop like an old Road Runner...??

I'm just thinkin' out loud here guys....

A while ago I was looking into making a hummer style snorkel on the passenger side hood. Having an inline cone filter and then a bell comming slightly out of the hood. Of course it would have the option to put a chimney stack for deep water operations! No mula or resources to ever start the project, lots of cool scketches tho

A snork is the way to go if you off road all the time especially in deep water.
I was just imagining something more performance oriented is all.

I've always thought a nice cowl induction hood would look good on the Liberty. Take the two raised area on the hood and bump them up an inch or so.

I just happened upon this site from an online racing site. Get a load of this stuff.

http://www.bodykits.com/Jeep/Liberty/Body-Kits-Conversions/Hood-Scoops

Of course some of this stuff is not specific to the Liberty.
