That's another thing to consider nightdrv..

Not sure about your winters.... but we hit -30 (C) / -22 F more than once a year up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Well, as long as it survives THIS winter. We don't get down farther than about 10 degrees here. (in the winter). But, I am moving to AZ next summer, where I know I will never need it again. 8)

I'm from NY and my last car with a fiberglass hood lasted fine though out the winter and 2 pretty bad snow storms. No starting problems and the engine heated up and ran perfectly fine. I also didn't have any issues with the paint or the hood warping in the summer.

Here is the hood that was on my Scion. I drove this everyday ...

I pulled the liner off of two of my vehicles. You may see some steam when it rains. Thats really the only thing I noticed.

As you know my mods are usually 1 shot deals. Too much work involved for mass production.

I got tired of not being able to see my cups. So I decided to illuminate the holders.

Very creative Scar0. 8)

Met kskj and went wheeling at

Actually, the wheeling was more technically demanding than LJS '09 in Ouray due to the high quantity of rocks, the close proximity of trees and that slippery mud was frequently present.

Some of the mud was in holes. I used to have a trailer hitch somewhere....

Couldn't have asked for better weather in Kansas in August -- highs probably only in the 70's, last night felt good by a campfire and although sunny today, almost all of the trails were back in the shade of the forest canopy.

See also this thread for more info sometime Sunday.

Changed out my headlights for Silverstars...

Changed the OEM plugs for Bosch Platiunum 4s - we'll see if there's any difference soon enough - started the motor, not sure if it ran any differently, but the good news was it RAN :D

I was looking for some air filters too (drop in style) that claim better airflow etc.... I couldn't find anything that wasn't oiled though. anybody now of a dry flow/drop in filter that provides stronger airflow without letting dirt in too?

Well initial report here on the new plugs...

They seem to be working great & as promised. Smoother idle & acceleration. not exactly sure if there's any more grunt, if there is it's not really noticable - BUT the "shudder" i had before is now gone.

I was having a rough idle kind of shudder - when I'd let off my brake at a red light, not tough the gas - just creep forward, the jeep would "shudder/roughly idle/felt almost like warped rotors only faster and I wasn't on the brake". That's gone now!

WOO!

Yesterday I installed my new Comet CA-2X4SR antenna using the Comet CP-5M mount. I installed it on the back hatch to the right of the drivers side taillight. Didn't even think about it while I was installing it, but the antenna prevents me from opening the back glass. I don't think that is going to be a problem since I really don't open it much.

Today I installed my APRS setup which includes a GE MVS radio, Argent Data systems Tracker2, and a Nuvi 350. What this does is broadcast my position on the national APRS frequency (144.390). Using the Nuvi I can send text messages to other APRS stations as well as see if other stations are in the local area. My primary usage for this is while I am storm spotting. I will not have to announce my location to net control or to the national weather service, they will be able to see where I am on the internet or on their station.

I got to drive my KK for the first time in almost a month, actually 24 days to be exact.

Finished installing the PPF, just had the hood to finish up after the accident. Its all done now and the wife now wants a 4" lift after I tell her to start saving her money for the 2.5" lift.

Installed JK hood bar on the bumper, sort of like others have done. Just, not in the same spot. Mounted lights. (temporaries)

Also picked up my new Dynomax muffler from a seller on Craigslist. To be installed soon :)
