Not an easy job on a CRD, it's on the bottom, with limited access.

My A/C compressor clutch died on my 02 KJ. I found an 04 A/C compressor with clutch. (same part number)

Now I am debating if I should just replace both my old A/C compressor (still works fine) and clutch (dead) with the new assembly I bought.

If I replace both I will have to recharge the entire system. But then that might be just easier to do then simply replacing the dead clutch with the new one.

I looked over the service manual on how to replace a clutch but I am wondering if it would be simply easier to replace both the A/C compressor and clutch as one unit. As opposed to fiddling around with just the clutch and the required spacers.. etc...

Thoughts suggestions?

I would do both. Your KJ is at the age that the AC system should be serviced ( ie: recover/recharge)... Its way easier to to the whole thing... yeah it may cost you a few bucks more, but well worth the time saved

Replaced both as suggested.. much easier to do then trying to install a new clutch.. and its associated special tools.

Everything is smooth as silk now.
