I was driving down theroad and I pull off to the gas station to get a little gas and right when I pull up to the pump and put it in park the thermo on my radiator reservoir shot off and spewed anitfreeze all over the place. Looked like my jeep was on its period at the gas pump. It was dripping everywhere. Good thing I had my welding gloves and got the cap back on. When I drove to my friends house and back home the temp stayed where it always is, in the middle of the temp gauge.

I think its because last time I checked my antifreeze I might not have put the cap back on all the way. I don't know.

Any things I should look out for?

Why did you need to remove your cap to check your level?

Check for zombies and ghosts.

My reservoir is stained orange from the coolant. Really tough to gauge the level from the outside. Maybe his is the same.

I would just check the level again when it's cold and top off if it's low. Otherwise sounds like no harm done.

Mine is tinted orange. Its nearly impossible to tell where the level is. I know I'm going to have to refil. Probably just do a coolant flush and get new coolant in there.

Mine is too, trust me you can tell when it is empty.

Try using a flashlight.

I looked down it and I can still see fluid in it. Its about a half inch from the bottom of the tank.

Done that. Still can't tell sometimes. Mine's 4 years older than your 06, been in there almost 200K miles. Let me know if you can still see yours in 2013. :)

You know, My flashlights are Maglight LED's maybe that made a difference. FWIW when my radiator went out that stain went away considerably, probably because I ran straight water for a few days while waiting for the new radiator. Maybe next time it is due for a flush run some hot water through the overflow tank.

When I get some fluid I plan on flushing all of it with hot water. running it through the system for like 10 minutes.
