What do you all think... 1989 Cherokee, 4" lift, newer tires-33's maybe? , "supposed" dent free/rust free body, clean interior, 4.0L , has cracked head....$500

meh, not bad, if it needs an engine, a rebuilt one will run 1500+... so your basically betting on having a 500 dollar jeep and hoping that you can get away with labor to pull the head plus maybe 100 in parts to get it running.... otherwise it gets expensive.... I'd probably jump on it if it were me

500 bucks, go for it, I would, if the motor is junk part it out get way more than your money back, ( or thats what I would do :wink:

Can't go wrong on that unless its a total rust bucket with 3 gallons on bondo , trans is gone, tires worn to shreads and a junk a** lift, and his mother in law comes with it!

must've sold it, his craigslist posting is gone. wife would've killed me anyway. I'm maybe going to sell firebird in spring and try to pick up a cheap TJ. She would be happy with an open top fun vehicle anyway.
I would prefer a TJ just due to better suspension, better dash, etc. buuuuutttt what about 90's YJ? I know they are front leaf sprung, etc, but I see a bunch for 2500-4000 locally. I will only get a 4.0L with a 5 speed.

yeah, but wifey doesn't like to drive it, too low, doesn't handle well for her, etc. She is only 5' tall so she likes to sit up and she loved the CJ5 we had when we got married so she would drive a YJ or TJ, she was looking at them when we got libby. This would be mainly MY toy anyway... yeah right!

Thats looks to be in pretty decent shape.

I see it with a mild 3 to 4 inch lift, JK Rubicon diffs, 6 speed manual and in front of that a nice DIESEL with straight stacks up behind the cab, small camper on back .............
have to go look at this listing again :idea:

Had a dream last night...Rev Mudd was my neighbor who lived right behind me... don't ask me why or how.... you all know how you have those crazy dreams sometimes.

Those Cherokees run for ever, mine had 265,000 on it and was still running great used 1/2 quart of oil every 3500 miles which wasn't bad, transfer case was going south though and she had to be retired to the farm :wink:
