My ESP was acting up along with the Service 4wd light, dealership said the "encoder motor" is bad. Ordering me a new one. What does one of those do?

Thanks in advance,

It is the motor that is mounted on the side of the transfer case. It is what physically shifts the t case in and out of 4x4

The Encoder motor uses a pre-set line of Codes to redirect Power from the Trans and drive train, based apoun that information given to it from the Input system. if the Encoder is mallfuncation it could send 100% power to the left from wheel when you are going forward but ina reverse pattern.

ok I am joking sorry... Differ might know for real...

Encoder motor is what you KK uses to operate the skyslider......it also encodes gravity... without it your kk would just float....

Who is differ?

Any way, what you are thinking of if the abs module/pump thingy . Not sure what chryco calls it.... The ABS module uses the signals from the wheel speed sensors. from there, it then modulates the brakes on the wheel that is slipping....

You would have to ask

I need to do a little digging since the other two were long long ago. I think one was an 08 and one was an 09 with less than 500 miles on it...be back later

its not because GM failed that no one can ever make an electric shifter that works. I abuse mine a lot and it works perfect
