Did they really bash the Libby? http://www.jpmagazine.com/roadtests/154 ... index.html

http://www.jpmagazine.com/roadtests/53363/index.html

I see things like "darn good" in these articles.

"I read the different magazines from the rack while my wife pushes the grocery cart"

I thought I was the only one to do that

"there was a full page advertisement in the opening pages featuring a liberty"

Yes, there was. 8)

I think the Liberty is maybe more capable than a J10 4x2 and it has been in there.

look at this though: http://jpmagazine.com/featuredvehicles/154_0212_brute/

I think, all JEEPs should be in JP Magazine, including the AWD...wait a min...All jeeps have been featured.

I don't listen to anything Cappa says. From what I've read on other boards he's known for bashing vehicles based solely on his opinion. I read JP, and will continue to do so. They have alot of good tech in there and eventually they will come around.

What are the article dates? At the bottom it says 2006. Doesn't seem to fit.

Somebody build a two wheel drive Jeepspeed Liberty and watch the naysayers sit up and take notice. All in all I think it would take less modification than a Charokee....Stronger unibody,3.7 has more power potential than the 4.0 and long travel a-arms could be easily fabricated.Put in a 4.7....WOW!

Tokyojoe,

Thats the web page design date ????....These are older articles.

The articles are concerning the 2002's

They have spoken, even if they came out with a different opinion now, they would show Hypocrisy .

Um...what r u talking about? 2WD Jeepspeed KJ? Also, I think if the long travel A-Arms were an "easily fabricated" add on, then I think more people would have done it by now...

You can't fault JP for being traditionalist. What if you were accepted then they added the new AWD's ???

Libby might be accepted if there wern't exploded aluminum diffs and maybe a frame under the thing.

I really don't see how being capable is displaying "attitude"

The XJ doesn't have a frame and it is accepted by JP...

Did JP bash the liberty? The KJ made their list of Jeeps they would never own... is that bashing? I think so. Cappa is well known for being biased against newer vehicles. That is why you frequently see Reader's Letters with titles like "FIRE CAPPA!" or "TELL CAPPA TO GET HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS @$$!!!". He is a lousy and biased editor he belongs in a Turkish prison.

Ok so there was a full page ad for SkyJacker's Jeep Liberty suspension kit...big whoop...thats where they make their money and untill advertisers get it through their thick skulls that we (the 1600 member LOST community) aren't interested in that rag, they will continue to advertise. When they do realize it we will have better parts (SFA kits this summer, real 4" lifts, 33's).

Another note-the XJ was in production nearly unchanged (save for driveline) for 19 years to have a following like it does and the aftermarket support that it does. Rome wasn't built in a day and give the aftermarket time to build upon our platform. Who knows-your KJ may be the testbed for a new lift kit or locker? Flood diff companies with e-mails and phone calls. Beg superlift to sell us the Liberator kit. Give them a link to our site. A LOST approval is the best advertising-look at the Frankenlift...

I used to love showing up at Moab, Rubicon, Las Cruces and so forth in my Isuzu Amigo. All the "big dogs" would snicker at me and my little four banger with the 33's. What they didn't know is that I'd made my own bellhousing, put a Toyota tranny with dual transfer cases (192:1 final drive ratio) in, lockered it up, and knew how do drive reasonably well. I ended up pulling them out of stucks as much as vice versa.

After awhile you learn to just kind of smile knowingly when dorks castigate you. Water off a duck's back.

Joe,

JP still had (some) decent KJ reviews.

Your right about the X,Z,W frame thing. I'll just think of the KJ as a "ZJ short"

You said: "The KJ made their list of Jeeps they would never own... is that bashing? "

I remember that issue, I don't take it as bashing, it makes my list of 4x4's I would not own too, still does well though. Don't make them a Hypocrite just because they won't own one, especially after giving the KJ a capable review.

I think Playboy should have a "BIGBUTT" section, but the editor does not agree. Is she bashing fat a$$es?

I don't like rudabegas
Awsome 4x2

I also do not like rudabegas...

The play boy big butt thing is a little different...It is a well known fact that not all women are up to playboy par (even with the wonderful airbrushing they do) buy playboy has an issue called Vixens for folks like you ferg...

If a magazine is dedicated to Jeep and titled JP it should be about all Jeeps. Yes some Jeeps are better then others but they exclude us on purpose mostly because of the IFS...

Yes they gave the KJ a fair review before it came out but they have yet to give it one tech article or even have a KJ feature vehicle (which there are a few that deserve that spot). It's not like there is a shortage of KJ's either...last I checked DC sells more KJs then Wranglers...I never once called them a hypocrite-I accused them of bashing which is almost as wrong as hypocracy...

We all know about JP and how they (at least the editor) feel about KJ's. Just use your American right and boycott the rag. Let it go at that.

Which mag did the write up on the Frankenlift? I thought it was JP since that's the only one I read regularly, but could be wrong. I'll have to check the bathroom...I mean library.

Nope! Wrong mag. They wouldn't do that.

It was 4 WD and Sport Utility

Check out the jeepspeed site. They have created a new class for the 2006 season.Any Jeep with any Mopar engine. If theJeep was offered with 2wd ,you may run that option. Many of the XJ's that race are 2wd.I've seen them run in Laughlin Nevada and they put on a good show.Till now high speed desert racing wasn't considered for the Liberty so changing the front suspention wasn't something people thought about. We'll see if this new class generates some new thinking and designs for the Liberty.

Since they're all owned by Primemedia I wouldn't be supreised to see the article recycled in JP at some point.

I was going to post something witty here but I have to run to the mall, pick up the kids from soccer and go get groceries in my KJ 1st. BBL.

Hey now, I just went grocery shoppin in Bullet a couple of hours ago...AND.. I am not a soccer mom, but I AM a Baseball mom!! :-)r

BUT, I still scrap on the weekends and there is a huge, I mean huge, mud puddle the my kids just HAVE to go through on the way home from the store....don't see any SUV driving "soccer moms" doing that!

No, it's "Mall Weekly"

But on another note.. Wonder what the percentage is between women vs men as far as "drivers" go for the KJ. I hardly see men around these parts (Detroit) driving KJ's. Mostly GC and Con's. Been seeing a few Commanders around with dudes driving'em. The KJ is fun to drive. has ability offroad. I think DCX did a good job with the balance. I did see some KJ's on TV (on demand) while watching some 4Wheel offroad productions. They didn't do too hot (kept breaking) but then again, the H1's didn't either.
