The Wings got win number 1 over the Black Hawks yesterday, sorry there Hawks fans! Gonna put a hurtin on Ovechkin and the Caps tommorrow. I'm already excited for playoff time!

Flipping through channels last night I ran across the Chi -vs- Calgary game. Neither are "my team," but I love hockey, so I watched it. WHAT AN AWESOME GAME! Good win Chi-Town.

Paul Coffey is great! I went to school with his Niece, and she had him come to our class in like 4th or 5th grade, it was pretty sweet. He talked about being a pro hockey player and following dreams and what not, and before he left he signed a bunch of cards for everyone in the class. I still have the autograph somewhere at my mom's house. It was the coolest school day ever.

Edit: The Av's suck and so does Foote :lol:

Paul Coffey was born in 1961, so he'd be 48 now. Man he was great! Retired in 2001 after too many years of being traded all over the country. Sad to see the end of a great career go like that. But MAN it was fun to watch him play!!!

That's cool that you got to meet him. I only saw him in person once at a Wing's game way back when...before Scotty Bowman pissed him off.

Foote hasn't been the same since the trip to the Bluejackets, but he's still one of my favorite defensemen. And now he's team captain since Joe Sakic retired.

Paul Coffey and Al Macinnis retired around the same time, and were still using wood sticks, not the 1 piece stuff.

I heard the other day he might be playing for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. I still don't like how the Wings handled the situation with some of their older players, ie Chelios, McCarty, Downey. The should have given Chelios a job doing something, maybe in Grand Rapids with their AHL affiliate (he played a lot there the last couples seasons). He is kinda like Brett Favre, needs to retire on top and not waste away trying to hang in there.

It was a great game, except for the outcome, the Wings lost in OT. Can't wait for them to come back again, and hopefully put a hurtin on the 'yotes.

No kidding, the Coyotes have been on a tear. They took out Boston a couple nights ago. They are looking legit this year, kinda scary.
