All,

I just recently installed the dodge lift pump, one in the 05 crd and one in the 06 crd.
Thanks to all that posted information/pictures regarding the install and wiring. It
proved invaluable.

I did not take any pictures as there are plenty posted on the forum and other sites listed
in the forum. However, I just wanted to offer one tidbit that I did not see posted.
The information that I did find showed the tab on the lift pump being notched in order to
keep the pump lined up straight just like the non-lift pump assembly.

I decided not to notch the tab. Instead I just rotated the pump slightly and the pump
dropped right in. The pump works great and no effect to the fuel gage.

Thanks

Cutting the tab was to locate the float arm exactly where the original one was. Untill it was discovered the float arms were a tad different there were problems with the fuel guage readings and that was why the tabs were cut.

So an eye on yours down towards empty

Yes... in fact is it simple/easy to snap the arm out of the old assy and place it into the new one - so that the geometry remains correct and the gauge works (is calibrated) correctly.

So the best option is to swap the old float arm to the new assembly, and reinstall with no tab modifications?

Swap float arm and cut a tab.

Step 9 and 10.

I'm thinking about buying the pump in anticipation of some day getting around to it. Did you get the airtex? Where and how much? I see prices moving around to as much as ~500.00 which is a tad steep.

Just FYI,

I did swap out the float arms when I installed the pump. The arm that comes with the dodge assembly is larger as others have noted. The larger arm was probably the culprit to the fuel
gage errors others were having. I rotated the assembly only enough to get the pump in without notching. This only amounted to about 20 degrees. So far the fuel guage reads exactly
as it did before I installed the lift pump. The 05 CRD is down to a 1/4 tank, so I will be fueling up in next day or so and will let you know if the gage is far off from what the pump says.

I ordered the pump from moparpartsamerica.com. The part # is 5143160AB and is $169.05.
Don't forget it is a dodge part number. I ordered one 05 wiring harnes, which gave me
enough pins to do both CRD's.
