Well looking into it further and the noise is definatly coming from the steering wheel/steering column, not the suspension. If it is the clock spring will the dealer blame it on the lift or is it totally unrelated?

Another thing. You can kinda feel the click in the gas pedal when it happens in the steering column. Any ideas or could it still be the clock spring?

Well it could be a combination of the clock spring, but now that you have added more info about the problem, I'm now going to say that it is the steering shaft assembly. The possibility of the clock spring doing that is pretty close to 0%

Is this a difficult fix and what could have caused it, the lift ?

Just remember that there is no throttle cable in the KK's so "feeling it in the pedal" doesn't mean much since it is not connected to anything but electrical wires.

Elt31987,

How did you make out at the Dealership? I too have a noise coming from the steering column. It is a "clicking" noise. I notice it more when turning at low speeds like in a parking lot. I just tried pressing the brake pedal while not moving and turning the wheel lock to lock and I could feel the "click" through the brake pedal and my foot. I have stock suspension and tires on my 2008 Liberty.

I just had my Liberty to the dealership with a list of things for them to do and I asked them to check the steering noise. They found the clicking noise to be the belt tensioner. I said I will be back if I hear it again. Well I heard it again. The plus side is that the dealer did the Tranny TSB and the A/C TSB. Now I have a better performing, cold air blowing, steering wheel clicking Liberty. Ha Ha.

I have a slight click in mine too and I think its coming from the rack&pinion. I can make it click when I pull very had on a tierod or when I kick a wheel

The technician said he thinks that the Steering column coming from the Firwall into the Engine Bay is over extended due to my lift or its possibly the Clock Spring. After talking with guys on here and confirming the lift would be unrelated to that Steearing Column because the unibody would lift up the front steering anyway so im thinking its the clock spring. Im going to try and setup and appoitment for next saturday to have them look again.

Sounds like the Stealership has the Blame deflector on full strength. Good luck. Sounds like they are dead set on blaming your lift and want to make money off of you. If you have to pay to have it looked at I would take it to a trustworthy local garage that has a lower hourly rate and have them take a look at it.

I don't think my issue is the clock spring. I think it could be in the column itself or at the u-joint connection. Just feels like something is worn and has a little too much play in it.

Called back the tech i spoke with and explained that since its a UniBody that the steering column doesn't get over extended and that it was probably the Clock Spring and wanted to get it looked at. The technician sounded pissed off and stated "OK I guess so let me get you the Service Manager to set it up."So im dropping it off Wed Night to have it looked at Thursday. Will keep you guys posted.

I'd find another local dealership. Then suck up to them.

$20 says this one doesn't actually do anything. I brought my KK into the closest one, and they didn't do ANYTHING except for the oil change. Even then, they didnt reset the dummy reminder, so 2 days later, the KK told me to change my oil... retarded.

Update: Dropped the Jeep off last night and got a PT Cruiser in exchange for a rental lol, what a deal. But anyways, they called today to say they thought they had a clock spring in stock but didn't and ordered it and said they will have it tomorrow and install it. So lets hope this fixes the problemo.
