My front Driveshaft boot is bad, and i have to replace it

I was trying to find out what are the mains reasons of this common failure, my KJ is 2004 and has only 45k miles and i dont use the 4x4 frecuently, not even water crossings or mud

Any comments?

the rear boot is in line to get a lot of road dirt and grime in it, this sits in there and wears out the rubber boot and then needs replaced, mine made it till 128,000 but was gone. Doesn't matter if you use it or not, the boots are rubber and rubber breaks down over time, mileage has no real bearing on the life span

Lousy design, I think if there was an accordion boot in that location they would last a lot longer.

I agree, with the concave design of the boot it allows crap to lay in there and rub holes ! yep lousy design !

Or is it some governmental design to make things wear out and take over our minds
