I hate the tpms.
I know the light stays on even after they have been disabled. This was confirmed on a KJ and I am not sure if you can even do it anymore. But I would bet when deactivated the light still stays on... the chime goes away but the (!) stays all the time.
It is up to the shop to decide what is a fair charge to reset... I have been doing it for free if it's done with a tire swap, LOF, rotation, or the vehicle is under warranty. If its not... it depends on how difficult the situation is (sensor problem or I don't know how to set my tire pressure problem) and of course if you brought doughnuts this morning.
Did I mention I hate the tpms
It comes on when it cold and it only has to be 1 tire out of the 5 on your vehicle to set it off.
So if your parked outside on a cold night, when the sun comes up, and warms the left side of the car, but the right is still frosty... the tpms can come on.
If you set all your tires to 32 psi, and your spare is 25... the light can come on.
If you (not in our jeeps) cold start... say... a Challenger, run it until it's warm and then do a big smokey burnout, the tpms will come on.
It is overly sensitive, cheaply manufactured, crap, that you will be forced to replace when the battery dies or the stem snap off.
I hate tpms
Never rush to the dealer the first time the light comes on... check your pressures (all 5 tires) and monitor the situation yourself for a bit before calling in to set up an appointment.
I will also add that the Nitrogen seems to be more stable and vehicle with it installed have less tpms lights and chiming due to weather related issues.
any other questions?
