In my instructions book, it says there should be Mopar ATF+4 in the transf.case. The same as in trhe automatic transmition. But when I should shange oil, there where a golden brown oil in the transf.case. Not that blood red as the Mopar ATF+4.
So anyone really knows what it shall be. It is a -05 KJ Sport, 2,8 CRD whith SelecTrac...

Were you the first one to change the fluid or did you get the Jeep used? Someone may of used engine oil in it. ATF+4 is perfectly fine for the tcase.

Its also possible the oil was so dirty that it was brown.

I bought the Jeep when it was two year and 6000 km/3750 miles. There are no service done on the tranny before now.
The first service where done when the Jeep was one year and 2888 km/1805 miles. Nothing on the tranny by then...

Well. I will fill it whith ATF+4. But verry confusing. The oil does not look burned, it has a clear golden brown colour.

ATF changes color after a while. I believe it is red because of a dye in it. It may have just lost its color. Just replace it with the ATF.

Are we talking about the transfer case or the Transmission?? ATF+4 goes in the automatic transmission and the transfer case.

Well... I changed the transmition fluid too. In the automatic gearbox. And that oil was red.
Now it is new red oil in the tranny too...
And new oil in the diffs and the engine. New filters. And next weekend I will change the timing belt and stuff...
Hope the Jeep will be happy... :D

75w90 gear lube. 75w110 in the rear if you do a LOT of off-roading or heavy towing. If you have a limited-slip rear diff, you'll either need an oil formulated for it or an additive and an oil that will work with the additives.

Forgot to say full synthetic. With the benefits you get and the prices these days, full syn is really the only way to go (but mopar doesn't specify it for the differentials unless it's limited-slip, I don't think, so if you're really pinching pennies...)

The part numbers in the fsm are for synthetic, i don't think they have any non synthetic gl5. Also it specifies 140 weight for the rear, for towing, not 110.

75W-140, in the rear you need the limited slip diff additiv. Or you can use Castrols 75W-140 "XJ", whith that additiv inkluded. I did, and it´s working OK...
