I have sone bubbles forming from rust between the light bar and the windshield on the exposedpainted roof of the jeep.

Any ideas how to fix, or if I should bother? A body shop told me about $400.00 canadian to remove winshield, remove rust, remove and reinstall light bar, paint effected area, and apply 3M stone guard all across.

Any thoughts?

Honestly since I cannot afford a paint job I would sand, primer and touch up paint the area.

Since you have an '05...is the rust under the paint?

Then it probably still is covered by warrenty. Try checking this with a JEEP dealer.

Mine had 7 years of rust warrenty,no milage limit.

Took a couple of calls to JEEP service department. But they fixed it..free.

Great idea on the warranty. The rust is under the paint. I'll drop in to the dealer today and see what they think. I won't hold my breath though.

I had rust like this on my 95 Sunfire years ago and it ended up cracking the windshield in the winter when the ice was able to form under the lip of the windhield.

Well, I went to the dealer and was told that they would only cover it if it had a "perforation" or a hole right through. Figures.

Anyway, went to two more body shops and was told 5-600 bucks. Jeeze. If it was anywhere else I'd do it myself, but the windshield really does need to come off to do it properly.

I'm gonna think on it for a week or two then likely get it done. I want to keep this Jeep for a long time.

Also was told it was owned by a Chrysler executive, so my warranty is really strange. Longer for some things and stunted on others.

weird. :?:
